About Me

I am a university student studying to become a registered nurse. I am currently employed with the Canadian Navy as an officer cadet, and plan to make that my carreer.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the church because of the Book of Mormon. This book inspires me. I like many others was born into the church, however, the time comes when we can no longer rely on the faith of our parents, and we must find what is true for ourselves. The Book of Mormon is what did this for me.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I served a mission in the Italy Milan Mission. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I woke every morning with a sence of pourpose. I was given the oportunity on a daily basis to study the scriptures for several hours. The best part was the oportunity to go out and share the message of the restauration with people. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing people take hold of the gospel message. You can see a light about them as they make changes in their lives as they start living gospel principles. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to give two years of my life in the service of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a clerk for the church, maintaining and organizing the records of the local congregation.
Outside of the Church I am involved with the Canadian Navy. This is an organisation where drinking and smoking are the norm. My shipmates and colleagues have all learned that I do not drink, smoke, swear, or involve myself in certain types of entertainment. They no longer attempt to persuade me to participate in these activities. Many of them have come to me to ask why we live this way. It has been a good experience.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We as members of the Church worship God, the Eternal Father, in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ. We recognise that Joseph Smith was a chosen servant of God, and that he did a great work, one for which we are greatful. However, we do not worship him.

Jesus Christ is the Savior of all humankind, the Son of the Living God, the Messiah, the holy and anointed one of Israel, and He lives today to guide and lead us back to our Heavenly Father.
