David: Mormon.

Hi, I'm David

I'm a husband, I'm a dad, I'm in Human Resources, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my best friend and am the father to three angelic boys. My family brings me so much joy in life. I am employed as a Human Resources professional. I am challenged each day to succeed as a leader at work and a leader in my family. I strive to be successfull at providing for my family in both temporal and spiritual matters as the home over our heads is only as important as the spirit that dwells within that home. I falter at times but get right back up because my experiences in this life reassure me that a kind Heavenly Father is watching over and blessing me as I try to be and do better each day. That's all I can do. I love to read a good book and try my best to golf and play team sports every once in a while. I love kayaking with my wife and look forward to when my little boys are big enough to kayak with us. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints... I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am blessed to be the son of two loving parents. I was born into the faith of my parents. My mother became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager and my father is the son of a long line of Mormons. Now the real question is... why am I still a Mormon? I think of myself as a seeker of truth and the good things of this world. Many teachings in all faiths provide truth and goodness. Growing up as a Mormon I sought for goodness and truth in the doctrine and found a fullness of truth in the faith of my parents. As I ventured out on my own through my school years, playing sports in college, serving a church mission in Brazil, living in various states in the US I began to investigate my beliefs over and over again. I asked the questions of myself and studied to find answers. Is Jesus Christ really our Savior? Did He live in times of old and establish His church to help guide us in this life? Did I exist before mortality? Will I exist after? Why are there so many churches? What will truly make my family happy and keep us connected throughout this life and the next? As I searched and sought answers I was always led back to a study of scripture, a pondering of truth, and a prayer to ask about what I assume to be true. Each time I do this I feel a deep confirmation that there are modern day prophets and that our Heavenly Father is guiding us through their counsel and through our own personal witnesses of the spirit. I love being a Mormon. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only place where I can find fullness of truth and not just parts of truth. I know that there is a restoration of all things that took place bringing the authority back to earthly beings to connect husbands and wives, parents and children into an eternal union of family. I know that God speaks through prophets and that he did so both in the middle east of old and in the ancient americas and today in our day. The Book of Mormon, the New Testament, the Old Testament and modern day scriptures confirm this as I have studied, pondered, and prayed about them.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is my personal and individual connection to a Father in Heaven who knows all of us and knows me individually. Prayer humbles me whe the world teaches me to be proud. Prayer gives me the opportunity to seek and learn the patience to receive answers in guiding me in my decisions in life. Prayer is formal and informal. I can talk with Heavenly Father with my family, on my knees or in my head. When I keep prayer in my heart I am opening myself to divine guidance that no earthly scholarship can give. It is my polar north star that keeps me on a strait path. It is my hope for a new day when I am lost and without answers. It is always there for me if I just open my mind to speak with Heavenly Father. Prayer is the portal that opens a line of communication to my all knowing God and Father in the Heaven. I am weak but feel so much stronger and more confident when I am praying.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to live principles of truth and virtue at work, at home, at church, and as a citizen of my community where I live. I strive to do my very best in my responsibilities in whatever I do. First and foremost, I am a father and a husband and have a sacred responsibility to help my family make choices that will bring us happiness forever (not just today and here). I am also a "Home Teacher" which is a sacred responsibility that men in our church have to visit members of our church unit and check on their needs, their health, and their welfare. I serve where I am needed at church and I love the blessings that come from dedicating time to a greater cause that the money I make with my employer. Living my faith keeps me balanced and whole as I serve and dedicate time to building up my local church unit. Living my faith keeps me whole as I dedicate every last minute in the mornings, evenings and weekends to my wife and children so that I build up happiness and success at home. Living my faith, in the end, blesses the lives of others and I apply and utilize the Priesthood authority I have been ordained with to be a man of goodness and dedication in serving others.
