Why I am a Mormon

As the Twelve said to Jesus, "Where else would we go?" We love Christ.

We serve in the Los Angeles Temple for young missionaries going throughout the world and for young couples getting married in the temple for time and all eternity.

We sing in Southern California Mormon Choir. We also serve in Family History and "Indexing". Our ward here is the friendliest on Earth, but when we visit our children and grandchildren across America, we find they are also friendly. We joy in the Gospel: we live his commandments, especially to love everyone.

Words cannot say how blessed we are to be in His Church, but hopefully the Spirit of God can bear testimony to your hearts that this is true -- and this is available to everyone.

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

There is a vision of "The Tree of Life" that occurs twice in the Book of Mormon. To get to the tree, with the exquisite fruit, you must hold to the rod of the gospel and the word of God, walk the straight and narrow path through life, faithful to the end. There is more to the vision which you can read also.

What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?

Positive activities, such as INDEXING are so important. What could be greater?

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

INDEXING can be a family reunion activity.

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

Everyone has ancestors and by INDEXING we help everyone find theirs. We find joy in indexing in our spare time and as we watch TV and netflicks together. "You will thank us later."

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

INDEXING is a common interest and we love serving you in this manner.

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

The last verse in the Old Testament says the whole earth would have be wasted had not our hearts been turned to our worthy ancestors. God leads us in worthy temple work, to go with Christ's atonement.

How I live my faith

Lynnette is 'super-grandma' and I am 'PaPa' to fifteen grandchildren, so great are they.

We help save America by strengthening our own families and those around us.

In addition to our truly awesome effort in INDEXING, we are always ready with a friendly pass-along card and a smile to those who are friendliest to us, especially when we travel across America and abroad.

As in other instances, there are several levels of meaning. 1 Faith is belief. Hopefully, your 'faith' is based in truth. 2 Faith is action. Hopefully, your actions reflect to others the Love of Christ. 3 Look in your scriptures for 'faith', both in definition and example. 4 Your 'faith' is your 'testimony of Christ and his Gospel' here on Earth. It is a gift from God to be sought and treasured. Nurture your faith.

It's another word for commitment. When assessing one's own faithfulness, it may be easier to ask, "How committed are you?"

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. I've never even met the man.

One night I was on the front row of a concert. A big star came to the edge of the stage and held out his hand. EVERYONE rushed forward, climbing over each other, pushing and wedging themselves along, just to touch him. I almost got caught up in that too, and was about to rush ahead when a little voice kicked in "He's just a man. What's the big deal?" At that moment I vowed to never adulate anything less than deity. I will not go to my knees for anyone but a Loving God.

I respect Joseph Smith like I respect any man who tries his best to live according to his conscience. I hope maybe one day I'll get to chat with him over lunch--or over whatever kind of meal they offer in the life beyond. But I cannot worship a man, for why should I place and value one person any higher than another?
