About Me

I'm married. We have 7 children, yours mine and ours. I have an autistic child that teaches me patient and service. We have 6 grandchildren. I graduated from a Junior College. I am a working mom and currently working as a records retrieval agent. I enjoy reading, knitting, watching movies, listening to music and taking a trip now and then. We live on a farm and have goats, cats and dogs. We raise cocker spaniel puppies.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my savior Jesus Christ.
I love having the restored gospel in my life and additional scriptures, Book of Mormon.
I love having a living prophet and apostles that lead and guide us through general conferences and other church materials.
I love all the organizations of the church that help me to grow spiritually.
I love being in a church that cares about it's members and helps them when they need help.

How I live my faith

I attend church on a regular basis. I have church callings which are being a visiting teacher and emergency preparedness. These help me to serve and grow in the faith.
I read and study the scriptures, they bring me closer to the Lord and Jesus Christ.
I pray all the time and try to follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
I attend the temple 2-4 times a month. I am currently doing work for our deceased family members. I love being in such a peaceful and beautiful place.
I try to be a good example to my family and all I meet.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

He is the still small voice that gives guidance, comfort, warnings, testifier. He is the 3rd member of the God Head. Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. He is a spirit.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

It's funny, I used to call the Mormon Church a cult too. I just didn't understand it.

Mormonism isn't weird or strange. Its members don't perform satanic rituals or brainwash teenage boys into walking around from door to door in suits and name tags (nor is anyone forced to -- everyone who chooses to serve a mission does so out of their own free will and choice).
I used to call Mormonism a cult because it seemed foreign and unfamiliar, which I deemed scary. The same thing happened to Jesus' first followers as well: they were accused of cult worship too! Others who understood little of what Mormons truly believe told me lies about so-called "practices" in the church which, in reality, were just made-up stories and falsehoods intended to give the church a bad name.
When it comes down to it, a lot of people just don't understand this church, and lies about it spread like wildfire. Mormons believe that Jesus is the Christ. He is the Savior and the Redeemer of the world, plain and simple.
Is that so weird or cultish?
Today, there are close to fourteen million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide, and more live outside of the United States than inside. That doesn't seem very cult-like to me!
