I'm a student, I love sports, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an accounting student, and am about to graduate with my bachelor's degree. I like accounting, but I don't plan on being an accountant for my whole life. I plan to go on to get my MBA and eventually start my own business one day.

I love sports, especially basketball and football. But I will play or watch almost any sport including golf, soccer, tennis, frisbee biking, and running. I also enjoy hiking and other outdoor activities. In addition to sports, I enjoy singing, watching movies, and whatever else is fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I have seen it bless my life and the lives of many other people I have known in my life. The gospel of Jesus Christ, as taught in the LDS Church, answers all the major questions in life, and about life after death.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We go on missions because the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed us so much in our lives that we want to share it with others. I served a mission to southern Florida and was able to see the lives of many people be blessed as they accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ into their lives. I also learned to love the people of South Florida, even those who did not accept the message I brought. I was able to learn for myself how the Lord loves all of his Children.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to help the Lord bless the lives of other people. I do this both in ways structured by the Church, as well as trying to see if I can help others in need, no matter who they are. I also live my faith by striving to be 100% honest in my dealings with others. In short, I strive to live the teachings of Jesus Christ to the best of my ability in every way.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Although the many of the teachings of Jesus Christ and His prophets who came before him where preserved in the Bible, the true Church of Jesus Christ fell from the earth due to the persecution of His followers. The Apostles, whom Christ had called to lead the Church were all eventually rejected and many were killed. This lead to what we call the great apostasy, which basically was a complete falling away from the true Church of Jesus Christ. This lasted for a very long time. During this time, there were still good men who tried to preserve the teachings of Jesus Christ. Many other good men saw that the way religious leaders were teaching was inconsistent with the teachings of Christ. However, none of these men, by themselves, were able to return to the true teachings of Jesus Christ. Eventually, when the time was right, the Lord saw fit to restore His Church to the earth, by calling another prophet, as he did in ancient times.

The Restoration is needed because of the Apostasy. The apostasy is a time foretold of by the prophet in the Bible Amos. In Amos 8:11-12

" Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it."

Amos tells us that there will be a time when the gospel, or "the word of the Lord" will be lost. That time came when Jesus Christ and the Apostles were killed. Even though we still had the bible, there were no prophets or apostles to keep the gospel pure and true. Man was left with their own interpretation of the Bible. As we all know, there are thousands of christian churches all based on the bible, BUT all teach different doctrines. When Christ was on the earth He did not set up thousands of different churches so that there was something different for everyone. He had one church. His church. The prophet Peter tells us that there will be a restitution or a restoration of the gospel, in Acts 3:21

" Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."

In short, the gospel was lost during the Apostasy and the Restoration brought it back. So, now we have the same gospel that Christ set up when he was on the earth. :)

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

I think the Church is growing because people see that there can be a better way to live, that they don't have to be bound by the chains of addiction, pornography, dysfunction and broken homes. We know that the most important thing in this world is the family and the future of this world is found in the lives of the children and teenagers we see on the street, in our malls and schools. The best thing we can do is teach them to be honest, upright and moral citizens who can contribute to the betterment of society. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that the family is incredibly significant--so significant that God wants us to be families forever, even when we die. This is huge for many people in the world who realize that their children can really be with them forever. There is tremendous comfort in that, and I think this is why so many people are drawn to this Church. It provides hope and peace.
