I am the father of 8 and grandfather of 11 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married 35 years and have raised 8 children with my sweet wife. I love to garden and raise our own vegetables. I am a meeting planner and have traveled around the world. I have come to realize we are ALL children of the same loving Heavenly Father. I enjoy learning about new people and cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the Mormon Church, I have read and studied the Bible along with the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ and found them to both be the word of God revealed to ancient prophets for the instruction of men on the earth. I have received a confirmation through the Holy Ghost that God has again spoken to living prophets on the earth in these last days. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He has once again placed his true and living chruch on the earth once more, with all the power and authority of the ancient church when He walked on the earth in Jerusalem. This chruch today is called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or commonly called the Mormons. There are again 12 apostles and prophets who lead Christ's church today. I have been greatly blessed with peace and joy as I have lived the teachings of Christ's gospel as taught by the Mormon Church. I love to serve others in my callings in the local congregations. I feel that I am doing what God would have me do. I am grateful for the Savior's love for me and my family as we try to follow Him and His church.

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

I have seen the hand of God in my life and felt the promptings of the Holy Ghost again and again as I have sought to know the will of God in my life. I have studied other religions and spoken with numerous Christians and have found answers in the restored gospel of Jesust Christ, the Mormon Church, that other faiths do not answer or which offer confusing or incomplete answers to. Take all that you know of Jesus and add to it revealed truths through living prophets from the recent past and see your knowledge of God expand and your understanding increase of what God is like and what His purposes are for each of His children.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good husband, father and neighbor. I give generously of my time and means to God's kingdom and try to live a charitable and kind life. I try to live an honest and upright life and follow the teachings and commandments of God.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is an ancient account of God's dealings with a branch of the House of Israel who were brought to the Americas through divine direction and help. God spoke to prophets on this continent just as He spoke to prophets in the old world. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible is a testament that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of the World and that through Him all mankind can be save through faith on His name. These writings, made on gold plates were hid up in 400 AD and were kept hidden until the Lord called a modern day prophet, Joseph Smith to translate this ancient record by the power and gift of God. This translated record is the Book of Mormon. It is either an amazing example of God's love for His children in these latter days or it is the biggest fraud of the last 200 years. It can only be one or the other. It stands on its own two feet. It is published for all the world to read and decide for themselves if it is true or false. Read its inspired pages and sincerely ask God if it is a true testament of Christ. I testify that it is because I have read it again and again and it only strengthens my testimony that God livew and Jesus is the Christ, its only purpose!

We believe in a loving Father in Heaven who desires all of his children to have His precious word. "Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth?" (2 Nephi 29:7).

Of course, with any thing concerning God, it is important to find out, personally, if the work is true. What better source can we trust than God Himself? Through prayer we can know, independently of anyone else, where the truth lies concerning any matter.

In the introduction to the Book of Mormon we read: "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost." I testify that this pattern of revelation is true. If we take the time to study it out in our minds, ponder upon the truth and ask God, in faith with desire to act upon our answer, that we will receive. He has answered me, and He will answer you when you ask in faith.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

I have a testimony of the "The Family: A Proclamation to the World." It is scripture because it is the word of God coming to us through an inspired Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, prior President of the Church, and living Apostles. It clearly states, “We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God." As long as a person abstains from homosexual relations and cultivates wholesome thoughts, they worthy before God. The Church does not and will not ever condone "gay bashing." I see same-sex attraction as a special challenge to overcome in this life, and not a curse. God loves all of his children unconditionally, but that does not mean that He condones sexual relations outside the bounds of a legal marriage between a man and a woman. I bear my witness that the Atonement made by Jesus Christ is not only has the power to save us from physical death and redeem us from sin, but it also the power to transform our lives. As we yield ourselves to Christ and seek to do his will, we will find the grace and healing to deal with whatever challenges or circumstances life deals to us.
