Hi, I'm Scott
I'm a Mormon. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I live in Nevada and used to live on the East Coast in PA
About Me
I have been married to the most wonderful friend in the world for 24 years. We have two grown sons. I volunteer for the Boy Scouts Of America and am active in Social Causes and Progressive Politics.
I'm a lot like you...trying to make myself better day by day, support my family, and give back something to my community...
Why I am a Mormon
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an anchor in my life, and has led me to better understand my role on this Earth. It builds my family, and enables us to stay close, even though we may be thousands of miles apart. The Church is like a giant family, or a group of your best friends. I have prayed and received an answer that this is the Lord's true Church. You can too!
Personal Stories
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
When I was 16, I prayed to know if the Church was true. I had looked at many faiths, and had attended their various services, even though I was 'born Mormon'. I needed to know for myself if the Church was true. One night, I knelt in prayer and asked my Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, if the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the only true and living Church on the Earth. The answer I got was 'You know it is.' So I did.
Having that certainty in life, when so much is uncertain, has given me a unique perspective that others often cite as trait unique to me. You can have that same 'unique' trait. A sure knowledge born, by the Spirit the Holy Ghost, that comes to your heart and mind, that Jesus is the Christ and that His church has been restored to earth.
How I live my faith
In my Ward (a local Church unit - like a Parish) I serve as the Executive Secretary. This means I help out our local ecclesiastical leader - the Bishop in performing his important functions. I also have the opportunity to serve as a Home Teacher to four awesome families - each of which is different from the other, in terms of ages, and life experiences. Visiting with them monthly is a great joy for me, and gives me the opportunity to serve one-on-one, like the Savior did. Service is a hallmark of the Lord's Church
My service isn't confined to members of my own faith - I also volunteer for our local Boy Scouts Of America Council as a District Training Chair. It's my job to see that hundreds of adult Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venture leaders are properly trained. It's a thrill to be able to help out an organization that does so much good in our communities.

As is the case throughout history God has communicated to His children through prophets. God used a humble man as a prophet to restore His Church on earth who ultimately died defending His faith.
