Ezekiel Orro: Missionary, Australia, Sydney, Talkative, Languages, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Ezekiel Orro

Mormoni, Molomona, Mormon.... Ah yep, that's the one, Mormon! Oh, and by the way, that's me!!

About Me

Well, I'm a missionary... WHICH IS AWESOME! Really it is, it is so amazing and fantastic an opportunity to be able to share the message of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone I meet. To be honest, I really don't care if they slam a door i my face either, I'm still going to be smiling afterwards regardless of the fact.

I love the plainness and simplicity of the Gospel, I love my Saviour and I love my family, I have a penchant for Curries, Mexican food, Tongan Food and anything involving sugar. I also love the Word of Wisdom too, which protects you from getting unfit from eating anything from the aforementioned food. Life is a fantstic bowl of triple chocolate caramel icecream with gooey fudge sauce and wafers!

Food analogies aside, I know that this is the only true church in the whole of creation, why? Because it has the the stamp of approval of that same Creator, and there is nothing like that any where else!

Why I am a Mormon

For the first 18 years of my life I went to church simply out of a desire to do what my parents wanted and please them. The Lord had other ideas. At the begining of my first year of university, I made the desicion to serve a mission, to do the right thing and whatnot. However the subsequent year, was the hardest experience I have ever had. The Lord needed to refine me, so that I could be prepared to go on a mission.

Now as a missionary, I still have very far to come, and at times it drives me crazy, it makes me feel like the world is coming down on me like a pile of bricks. However it is through this continued learning that I have the chance to go even further. So even though it gets me down, Heavenly Father lifts me up and gets me ready so that I can do what he wants me to do.

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Personal Stories

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost plays a vitally important role in missionary work. One false move and BOOM, he'll not be with you for much longer.

I've found this out so much in preparing for my mission and actually being out as well. Before I came out I really needed to find out for myself what it was I needed to do, deep down I know that I always knew I had to serve a mission, yet there were still things that complicated the matter, and muddled up my head. It wasn't until I got down on my knees and asked Heavenly Father what to do that I actually got the answer I needed all along.

Now that I am out as a missionary, I have found that to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost is a wonder and a miracle, it provides comfort and a feeling of well-being, as well as backing up your testimony, I know that it has been through the Holy Ghost that people have really come to understand my testimony and me also as an individual. I am so grateful for that!

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope works as a leg in a three-legged stool. It provides a support for us, along with faith and charity.

When we hope for something, we have a greater desire to do all things in accordance to achieve that goal, but more importantly we have the desire to accomplish it in line with Heavenly Father's goals for us.

Personally, I hope one day to have my own crazy, awesome, loving family a job which isn't really a job because I'll love what I'm doing, and a fantastic eternal companion. Oh and I also hope I can one day be able to serve more in the church.

Well as a missionary, we pray heaps throughout our days, it's quite the privelege to have that much constant communication with our Heavenly Father, but something I can testify of is that he wants us to have that constant communication, because as we do, he is able to tell us far more that if we walked around with our head in the sand not listening to the spirit, he loves us so much, and when we pray he can "open the windows of heaven and pourout a blessing that there shall not be room enough to recieve it."

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

When we make a desicion, everything, has a good consequence or a bad consequence.

Now at times, there may seem that we make more bod choices than good, however, if we take a look at these mixtures of bad and good choices, Now when I say bad, I don't mean misbehavior can all lead to a fantastic good consequence.

I've found it challenging to make good choices, however at the end of the day hindsight is always 20/20 vision. I am glad for the gift that we have of agency, because when I've used that agency for good, especially as a missionary, I've been able to touch the lives of others.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Why you ask? Why, why why? Well if any of you reading this are movie buffs, you'll know that like Neo in the Matrix Revolutions, we do it because we "choose to"!

We dedicate two years of our lives to helping out all those who the Lord has prepared to recieve the glad message of hope we have, By the way, that's everyone for those who are confused about preparedness.

We expect no reward, we seek only to do that which is in accordance with Heavenly Father's will, so next time you see us walking down the street, remember we can't hug you, but we do love you and appreciate you for acceptnig the gospel into your life. Let's face it, youguy are AWESOME!

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

Mwahahahahahaha..... Ahem...

Well as a missionary I get to share the gospel with those who are my friends and those who aren't as well, I get to share the gospel with everybody, which is a real bonus cos it's heaps of fun, difficult at times, but fun!

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

The Australia Sydney mission is the result of the merging of the former Sydney North and Sydney South missions, under the direction of President Jeffrey Simmons, we are here to bring the Gospel to all the world, or in this case all of Sydney, we have ~210 missionaries with additions and subtractions on a regular basis, including senior couples and the other missionaries that serve in other capacities.

I am one of the ~210 missionaries that serve throughout NSW and I am currently serving in Eastlakes in the Harbour Stake. It is the most fulfilling thing I've done in my life so far.

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

We can develop greater harmony by being obedient to Heavenly Father's commandments and by constantly reminding each other of the love that we have for one another, without it, we simply become like the rest of the world filled with people trying to outdo one another, instead of peaceful love and kindness, treat your homes like the temple, because it should be that important to you.

Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?

For myself, it takes a lot of integrity to have virtue in this world today. As The Family: A Proclamation to the World states "The means fo ceating mortal lif is ordained of God" to paraphase. In other words, anything that would make a person do anything to use these powers of proceation except in the bonds of marriage, is not of God.

This is what we see in the world around us. It is through faith and obedience that I know, the use of these powes is something, special and reserved, I know it is not easy to deal with the thoughts that can come into your mind, however, it is because of the integrity that I have gained, that the Lord guides my mind to the safe things he temptation comes around. He guides my mind and my heart, so that my actions can be in harmony with the divine potential which we all have.

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

Well, to begin with the Book of Mormon is not something that everyone finds is the thing they need, even when it is. However after reading it and holding true to the promise of Moroni 10:3-5, you will get the sweetest fulfillment of that promise.

It answers all the questions like, what happens after we die, what exactly happens in the ressurection. It is literally the instruction manual of our souls. It is something that we can apply to everything in our lives.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

Well to be honest, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what they are but nonetheless, I'm still giving it a crack.

For now my gifts and/or talents would consist of knowing alot about birds (I'm certain that I can use that to havea conversation with people), however I know for a fact that Heavenly Father gives us these talents so that we can increase them.

I feel that these talents that I have, though they're only a few can help me as I try to help others, for instance one of my neighbours once needed help setting up his computers so they could print wirelessly from a computer, and I'm glad that I was able to help out. It gives me a feeling of joy when I am able to help out with those who need it. Even when I'm not able to do much, I can still try and lend a hand.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

It is something more far-reachng than almost everything that I know. The work that Joseph Smith did to restore Christ's Gospel on the earth is one of the most fantastic things I've found. It comes as one reads the Book of Mormon. As the promise states in the front, we will come to know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. Simple no?

As I read the Book of Mormon for myself, not just for Seminary, or for church meetings or for lessons, but sitting down and reading it so I can feast upon the words of Christ, for myself, there is undeniable evidence in those sacred pages that Joseph Smith did the will of our Father in Heaven by re-establishing the founding doctrines and laws of the the kingdom of God, and that these accounts that are given from Nephi, Alma, Moroni and dozens more are all inspired under the hand of the Lord. He calls men to do his work, and they answer the call. I can tell you, dear reader, that Jesus Christ called, and knew, each of these men personally, just as he knows us also. I bear witness to you, and all who hear the sound of my voice on this earth, that Jesus Christ lives, and that Joseph Smith was indeed, the prophet of teh Restoration of the Fulness of times.

How has attending Church services helped you?

Well I have to say that as much as I took it for granted before coming out on a mission, there is no way in the world I'll take it for granted again. There is so much to be gained from attending church on Sunday, the most of which is being able to partake of the sacrament, which is the most important ordinance in one's week for those who are active members. This has been given to us sowe can fully access the Saviour's Atonement, and yet there a re so many who think they aren't worthy and don't take it, but it's at this point that they need it most of all.

How I live my faith

Well at this current moment I am a missionary, so I live my faith, as Preach My Gospel puts it, by "Inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them recieve the restored Gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end." I do this every day, and it is not easy, because the Salvation never was easy, nor will it ever be. We do this through blood, sweat, tears and faith, we do it out of love, and by extension we come to understand charity or the pure love of Christ.

Before serving as a missionary I was a counsellor in the young mens program, a program in the church for young men aged between 12 and 18. Needless to say this was immensely enjoyable, and I learned many things from the people I served with. I have come to have an even greater appreciation for the things I have learned as I have been out here doing the Lord's work.
