About Me

I am married and we have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. I love spending time with my husband and our family, taking pictures, traveling, cross stitching, scrapbooking, and other artistries but most of all doing genealogical research.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church while living in Auburn, Alabama. I started taking the lessons and had many concerns and questions. The numerous missionaries that taught me were very patient. One Sunday when I attended church, I sat in the front row with my family. During the meeting, the bishop leaned over to the chorister and spoke briefly with her. He had requested that the last song be changed. As we sang the song "Come, Come Ye Saints", I was so overcome by the spirit as it bore witness to me that the church was true that by the time we reached to chorus singing the words "All is well", I was sobbing. The bishop looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "Are you ready to be baptized?" I nodded yes and was baptized the next week. To this day, I still can not get through the song without crying. It has been the greatest blessing in my life.

How has attending Church services helped you?

When I attend Church services I gain an added boost which helps me to face whatever challenges I may face in the upcoming week. I love learning more about Jesus Christ and his teachings. My faith and testimony increase as I feel the Holy Spirit touching my soul, testifying to the truth of things spoken and reminding me of the love Jesus has for me.

How I live my faith

Every year my mother's side of the family has a reunion. Everyone looks forward to the family history books I have created which get updated each year. I have also greated a 7-generation picture family chart which is a big hit with everyone. They love seeing their pictures and watching the chart grow. Everyone now helps to update the books by bringing updated pictures, life stories and documents.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

We knew when we came to this earth that there would be challenges and opportunities for growth. It wasn't going to be easy. As a result each of us would make mistakes resulting in various degrees of sin. Unfortunately we are not perfect but because our goal is to once again live with our Father in Heaven, we needed help to do just that. Being perfect, Jesus was the only person who could give us that assistance. He not only experienced our pain in the Garden of Gethsemane thereby giving him a perfect knowledge of what agonies each of us would or were experiencing but it was through his sacrifice that he took upon himself to atone for our sins, thereby allowing us a way to return to our Father in Heaven. He freely made the choice to do this. There simply was not other way. I am grateful that he loved me so much that he was willing to do this of his own free will and give me the precious gift that would allow me the opportunity to be with my Heavenly Father and Mother again.

Have you ever met a perfect person? I doubt it. Why? Because everyone makes mistakes. When you make a mistake or are confused on what you should do, you want someone to help you, right? We all need someone to help us. We all need a Savior. We always hear that Jesus Christ saved us, but what does that truly mean? It not only means that he suffered and died for you personally, it means that he lived and lives for us too. He wants to help us. Jesus Christ is the only one who underestands everything that we go through. He not only wants to make up for the mistakes we make, but he wants to carry our burdens too. All we need to do is let him carry our burdens. Everyone faces personal challenges and Jesus is there to help. Everyone makes a mistake qa some point in life too. The beauty of having a Savior, is the fact that we can be forgiven. Sometimes our hands get dirty, but they can always be washed clean.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Since I do not think legislation will ever be enacted against it, we will have to stop it one person at a time. I think the key to this is placing the proper barriers between your life and the damning influence of pornography. That means staying away from unwholesome places, and putting the proper protections on your electronic devices. It also means controlling your thoughts.
