About Me

I am a daughter of God, a wife, a mother, a former school teacher and am now branching out into many domestic endeavors. I love to read, sew, and bake. And I have a great appreciation for God's many creations ... they are a source of constant joy in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

There have been times in my life where I have felt the Lord's presence and known that I truly am a child of God. I have prayed and those prayers have been answered. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ and am so grateful to know of their love for me, and all of us here on this Earth.

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

Mormons seek their family histories for a few reasons. The main reason is to be able to perform ordinances for them like baptism and the sealings of husband to wife and parents to children. These ordinances are very important, but are also only valid if they are accepted by the person for whom they are being performed. These ordinances tie all of God's children together in a beautiful way. We would not be here without the great work and sacrifice of our ancestors, and it is fitting that we do all we can for their benefit.

Another reason we seek out those from whom we come is to learn from their legacy. As we reach into the past, our hearts are changed. We come to understand more about who we are and who we can become as we study the lives of those who came before us. My faith is always increased as I learn more about my ancestors.

How I live my faith

My faith reaches into all aspects of my life. I have had opportunity to teach classes from the scriptures, to serve as a missionary in Spain, to work with the children and youth in our Church, and to serve and be served by the families in my immediate neighborhood.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

The Holy Ghost is the most important answer to that question. We are taught that the Holy Ghost Holy Spirit will manifest in the form of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith according to Galatians 4:22. I have felt the Spirit communicate to me those feelings and I know that those feelings come from a loving Father in Heaven.

If you pray and ask sincere questions with a desire to receive answers, you will. Heavenly Father is listening and will speak to your heart and mind through the Holy Ghost. It is a great comfort to know that heaven is so close.

I also know that this beautiful Earth was created for God's children. I see His perfect hand in the tiniest of details that exist.

Everything in nature tells me that there is a God. The universe is so ordered, so perfectly in harmony. If you really study our wonderful little planet, you'll learn that it is so amazingly unique to be able to sustain life, that there is just no way the earth and its inhabitants were merely created by chance.
The most important reason I know there is a God, though, is because I have felt his presence in my life. Through prayer, I have built a relationship with him, and as such, I love him and know that he loves me.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

When Jesus was on the earth he established his church. To guide it, 12 apostles were called by God and had priesthood authority to act in his name. When an apostle died, he was to be replaced so that there would always be 12 “special witnesses” of Christ (this is shown by the calling of Mathias as a member of the 12 in Acts:1)
The early years were troublesome times for Christians. The greatest antagonist to the church was the Roman Empire. During this era of persecution, apostles were killed and priesthood authority was lost. Centuries after Christ was crucified Rome pulled a 180 and adopted its own form of “Christianity” as the mandated state religion. To conform to previously held pagan traditions, ordinances like baptism were changed and creeds of faith, not found in the bible, were established.
Recognizing the discrepancies between this church and New Testament Christianity, righteous people protested and many of their followers formed new churches. This era of protestant reformation was critical in advancing religious liberty. But simply recognizing the errors of a church, does not give one God's priesthood authority (see Hebrews 5:4) Even those with the best intentions of following Christ’s teachings need proper priesthood authority to be baptized. The world needed a Restoration of Christ’s original church, not a reformation of an apostate version of it. And as soon as a nation was established with the religious freedom to allow it, the Lord did restore his church!
