I am an east coaster at heart. I teach school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college and am currently teaching 2nd grade. I just also finished my Masters of Education. I love kids and I love what I do! I grew up in Maryland and miss it. I love traveling and I love the water.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were active Mormons and have therefore been raised having this religion in my life. I continue practicing, even while leading my own life, because it gives me direction and purpose in life. I love that I can feel love and comfort from God every day of my life.

How I live my faith

I have just moved into a new ward and have felt so welcomed by the other members of the congregation. I specifically work with the visiting teaching program with the women in the ward, as well as teaching the children in my ward.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing is used to build all of the buildings we use. The church buildings that members meet at for Sunday meetings, as well as for activities throughout the week. Also to build our Temples throughout the world.

Tithing is paid in faith. I know these funds will not be misused. I pay tithing because it is a commandment, and because I love God and want to give Him back a small porion of what He has given me, to futher build up His church. These funds go to build and maintain church buildings and temples and other like expenses. Our clergy is not paid. There is no collection plate. We simply pay our tithing, our fast offerings, we share what we have gladly. This is God's way. For this is God's church.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Mormons practiced polygamy because the Lord commanded some of them to do so, for purposes known to the Lord. At the time, there were no national laws prohibiting polygamy. When the Supreme Court ruled that later anti-polygamy laws were constitutional, the Lord directed Pres. Woodruff to issue the Manifesto, and the practice ended in the Church.
