Hi, I'm Angie
I am a mom of 4, wife, daughter and friend and I am a Mormon
About Me
I grew up as an only child living in Chicago. When I was 13 my parents moved to Utah for a fresh start. Now Utah is my home. It's where my roots have been planted and this is where I will bloom. I was baptized in spring of 2007. Later in 2008 I met and married my companion. And that was the start of our blended family. We are raising 4 children together. While my husband works I stay home with our children. Besides all the important duties of diapers and laundry I also home-school our children. I feel that there is so much to teach them that 6 hours away a day seems like I'm losing out on time with them. But when I do have some "Me" time I enjoy art shows, visiting with friends, baking delicious gluten free cakes, blogging, or hiding in a great book.
But those things all take a backseat to spending time with my family. We love to go on family hikes or going to our local drive-in theater. We enjoy playing at parks, playing board games or having a Family Movie Night. I truly am blessed to have such an amazing family.
Why I am a Mormon
In the spring of 2007 I was in a dark and lonely place. My divorce to my first husband just finished so now I was a single mother of 2. So to cope with the pain I was feeling I was doing some retail therapy at a local department store. While I was putting my useless purchases into my car 2 elder missionaries approached me. Living in Utah I have known young men who have been on missions. I've written a friend once while on his mission. But none of it really touched me until this day. One of the missionaries boldly asked me "Are you happy?" I turned around, looked at him and began to cry.
A few days later I was receiving the lessons from 2 sister missionaries. They taught me about Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon and how to have an eternal family. When I listened to the lesson about how families can be together forever my heart was filled with pure joy. This was an answer to a question that I carried in my heart for a long time now. Although I knew the church was true I was afraid to convert. But after praying to my Heavenly Father I knew this was the path I was suppose to be on. All those small stepping stones that he gave me over the years were all meant for me. They were meant for me to prepare for this moment. So 3 weeks later I was baptized.
I have never been more happier in my life than I am today. Don't get me wrong- trials and sadness do come into my life. But I have so much more strength knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and will help me as long as I turn and seek his guidance. When I do ask for help he has always been there for me. It's an amazing feeling to have that type of relationship with my Heavenly Father.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
"Thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become habit, and habits become lifestyles" I feel that when you make one right choice it leads to more right choices.
Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?
I do live my life to a higher standard. I don't drink alcohol, smoke, do drugs, listen or watch anything that has curse words, violence or nudity. I dress modesty....even in the middle of a desert summer. I recognize Sunday as the Sabbath so I keep myself hidden from the world. I serve those that are in need with no questions asked. I am the first to volunteer to a service project. I pray over my food in public. I carry a pocket size Book of Mormon in my purse. I talk openly and will try to answer any question someone might have about the gospel.
I am a quiet type of person who was not blessed with the talent of public speaking. So I tend to speak more through my actions. You would see that I am an imperfect person who is striving to live my life in God's way- not the world's way. If you could see how I lived....you would see me exercising my faith. You would see my scriptures filled with scribbles due to my children holding them while having morning scripture study. You would see my in a dress on the back of a motorcycle while my husband and I are on our monthly temple date. You would hear my children begging me to let them say the dinner time prayer. You would feel the martial bond that my husband and I have for each other. You would see the tears fall from my eyes as I hear a church hymn being song. You would see me on my knees praying for help during those difficult times. I live my life as an open book for all to see and I think this is 1 of the many reasons why I blog (www.thankful6.blogspot.com) It helps all those see the way I live and it allows me to share the gospel one step at a time.
I know I was one of those people who tends to take 1 thing at a time. I can only handle small steps towards new ideas. I will watch to make sure you are doing what you teach.
I know that this church is true. I know that through prayer the Holy Ghost will testify the truth to you. I am a small stepper but big people watcher so this is how I tend to share as well.
How I live my faith
There are a few basic things that I do to keep my faith. I read the Book of Mormon with my family every morning. My husband and I read the Bible every night together so we can learn more together.
Second, My family and I attend church every week. I serve in a few different callings at church. And each one I feel has brought me closer to my Father in Heaven and it has given me a chance to meet some amazing women that are in our neighborhood.
Third, every Monday night in our house we hold Family Home Evening with our children. We sing hymns, read scriptures, and either my husband or I will prepare a lesson that we hope will strengthen our children's testimonies. Having weekly Family Home Evening has really strengthen our family bond. I know personally I have more patience, peace, and love for my family and others when I feel closer to God and Jesus Christ.
Last, I serve my neighbors. I enjoy serving my fellow brothers and sisters. Anything from cooking a meal, raking some leaves, tending a few little ones, or just needing a listening ear. I love my neighbors.
