I was born, raised, joined the church and was married in Nebraska.I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the church being taught and baptised by golden age missionaries at the age of 17.I married, had 12 children, went back to college and graduated with an Associate degree in Applied Science. I am a stay at home mom and have operate a licensed child care for 25 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a wonderful home with loving parents of another faith. When I was introduced to the gospel I just felt like the concept of families being together forever had to be true. I just could not imagine having children and not having a way to have them with you after death. I prayed for an answer and knew the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the true church.

Personal Stories

Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?

Everyday I open my home to children whose parents need to go to work. These children are children of my Father in Heaven. We try to treat them all as family and teach them right from wrong. Perhaps when they grow older they will remember a "babysitter" whos home was their home also, and family values were taught and lived for them to experience. Having a strong faith in setting a good example keeps me on the right track day after day.

How I live my faith

I have always remained active since my baptism in 1975 by Melvin Harris. I can share my faith in the small town I live in now in Michigan by being involved in our children's lifes. Because everyone knows we are Mormans we have an oppertunity to live our religon by our example

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No the Church does not endorse political parties. The Church encourages each member to do his part and know what the issues are you are voting for. You should reserch your canidates that are running for office and vote according to what they stand for and what you want them to accomplish once they are in office..

No. Our leaders have always operated from the concept that if we teach one another correct principles, we will then make correct choices and govern ourselves. The Church encourages each person to carefully consider every issue and each candidate and to prayfully seek guidance and then to vote responsibily. We are encouraged to be involved with our communities and nation but the Church does not take political positions or endorse parties or individuals.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I don't know. Quite honestly when labels are used I think this comes from someone's desire to quickly explain away something that they don't understand. If they really took a hard look at the church it would be easy to tell that Mormons do not blindly follow any human being. I think maybe someone who might use that label could look at the level of commitment and obedience found among the members of this church and casually explain this away as blind obedience. They certainly do not see the personal struggles and the effort that maintaining a personal relationship with God requires. Like most Mormons I think, I do what I do out of devotion and love. It may start out as duty and habit, but as I have come to know God and His mercy and love (the big picture) I can't help but want to keep the commandments. I don't follow a person, I follow God and His Son and they help me every step of the way.
