Tiffany: teacher, math, ulcerative colitis, Puerto Rico, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Tiffany

I am a wife, teacher, and book lover. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a middle school math teacher in Colorado, and I love it! I am the oldest of 10 children, 4 of whom were adopted when my parents did foster care in West Virginia. I was a missionary for the LDS church in the eastern Caribbean. Reading, hiking, and camping are some of my favorite things to do.

I was married in December 2011 to the most wonderful man in the world. We were married in the Denver LDS Temple for time and all eternity. I love him so much!

In 2010 I was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis, a chronic autoimmune condition. This trial has helped me see more clearly the wonderful plan of happiness that our Heavenly Father has for us.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents had raised me LDS but I didn't really believe in a lot of what was said. In high school I hung out with a bit of a rough crowd. It got to the point my junior year where I hated myself, hated life, and hated everything. I was absolutely miserable and had completely hit rock bottom. It was during that time that I desperately began to pray for the first time in years, and I was filled with an overwhelming feeling of love from my Heavenly Father. Since that day I have grown in my faith, and I have never, ever been happier. I know that this is the true church, and it's the only way to find peace and happiness in this life.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I was a missionary in the eastern Caribbean, and I just loved it. I went on a mission because I saw how much the gospel changed my life and helped me gain happiness. I went from utter despair to complete joy as I continued to get closer to my Heavenly Father. I want every single person in the world to feel what I do every day. I know how hard life can be without it, so I went to share what I know with others so they can gain the same contentment.

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

Over the past several months, three people who I was very close to passed away unexpectedly. It was a very emotional time for me, and the only thing that has kept me going through all of it is knowing that I will be with them after this life. I know that through the Plan of Salvation my family can be together for eternity, and I will see my friends again.

How has attending Church services helped you?

Every week I make mistakes or do something wrong. I get a little bit off the path that Heavenly Father would want me to be on. For me, going to church each Sunday is like a checkpoint where I ask myself where I am in my quest to live with God again after this life. It is a time to learn about what I can do in the coming week to be closer to Heavenly Father, and to recommit myself to doing His will. It keeps me on the straight and narrow path.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost gives me a peace that I have never felt anywhere else. When I am tired, discouraged, or sad, He is always there to give me strength and support. It is through Him that I feel God's love, which gives me the ability to continue on in spite of hardships and trials. He also gives me my testimony, and through Him I am able to walk in the path that God wants me to walk. I receive guidance and direction on choices to make, which has given me such happiness and joy.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, there is no doubt in my mind at all. I am so amazed at the strength, courage, and determination he had to bring the true church of Jesus Christ back to the earth. He was so dedicated to the cause, and his thirst for knowledge is an example to me. I know he was the man that God chose to lead the church and restore all the doctrines of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My husband and I do everything we can to incorporate the gospel into our lives. When we have decisions to make, like where he should go to graduate school or what job I should accept, we pray together. As we go through the ups and downs of every day life, we put our faith and trust in our Heavenly Father.
