About Me

I'm wife, to John and mother to four children, one of whom is considered a special needs child. My oldest is currently serving a mission in Cordoba, Argentina. I work part-time and spend most of the school year volunteering at my local elementary school. I'm currently Young Women President in my ward and love working with the 12-18 year old girls!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church at different times and we were sealed as a family when I was 2 I am the youngest of 5. I personally received my own testimony of and conversion to the church when I left for college when I was struggling.

I love the plan of salvation and knowing that families are eternal. I also know that the Lord and my Heavenly Father know me by name, just as my own earthly family does. I am grateful beyond all else for the atoning sacrifice of my brother and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without it, I would be unable to return to live with my Father in Heaven and gain exaltation.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is my direct line to my Father in Heaven. I have learned, though, to always keep that line of communication open even in the simplest of ways: helping me find my lost keys which is regular occurrence around here! to praying for my son serving as a missionary in Argentina to asking for guidance in my church calling with the teenage girls in our ward. There is nothing too small to pray about--nor too big.

How I live my faith

Serving in my church calling is very important to me. These precious young women are the wives, mothers, and leaders of the next generation. They have wisdom beyond their years and it's a pleasure to work with them every single week.

I also volunteer quite extensively in the community through the schools 4-H, fund raisers, assist with musicals and in other ways when a need arises Heart2Home.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We believe that families are an eternal unit and continue to be part of that family forever. What a great blessing! Not only do I get to spend all of eternity with my children and husband, but with my brothers and sisters and their families and my parents and ancestors. What a glorious thing!

Because family is so important to God. Why do you think God intoduces Christ as His "only begotten SON in whom I am well pleased" and not something more formal like my servant, the Christ? Why in the scriptures is God referred to as "The Father" more than any other title? why is it that naturally we come into this life into a family, whether functional or not? Families are ordained of God. Agency and human nature is what may cause us to believe other wise.
Family ought to be our foundation of education in this life. I've moved around a lot. I've attended many different schools and one thing I've learned is that it is hard to focus on my goals if I don't have a social network providing acceptance and unity. A support group I can lean on and be there to be leaned on at school. It's a miracle that God has provided that support group for the important lessons in life.
If our families aren't what they could be, we can choose individually to be an example and a friend to them as far as possible. practice the principles of repentence and forgiveness. Understanding that our families are meant to be eternal helps us to not allow the small things to obstruct our relationships.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We read in Genesis that one of God's first commandments to Adam and Eve was to "multiply and replenish the Earth." We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God, and the only appropriate means of multiplying and replenishing the Earth. Keeping this in mind, any sexual act that takes place that is not between a man and a woman, joined together in marriage, is forbidden.
