Brittany : Mormon.

Hi, I'm Brittany

I'm a wife and a mom. I'm a dancer when no one is watching and a dreamer on a budget. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah as one of only two children. After graduating highschool I moved away to college. I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education.

I currently stay at home with my two children. I love being a mom and find it very fulfilling as well as very hard. It is wonderful to experience parenthood and get a small taste of what God must feel for us his children.

Some of my favorite things to do are dance, play softball, cook, read good books, go on trips, go camping, snuggle with my children and kiss my handsome husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I believe that God has restored his church again on the earth through a living prophet. I grew up learning and reading from the Book of Mormon and experienced answers to my prayers as I read it's pages.

I remember a specific time after my favorite aunt died where I turned to the Book of Mormon for comfort. I prayed that God would comfort me and let me know she was with him. I then randomly opened up the book and started reading. I read Alma 40:11 "Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection—Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life." Tears instantly hit my eyes as I felt the spirit testify of the truth of what I had just read. Ever since then I have constantly turned to the Book of Mormon for truth about my purpose in life, how to be a good person, how to raise my family in a increasingly evil world, and most importantly about my Savior Jesus Christ.

I know that this church is Christ's true church. I know that He has called a prophet of God on the earth today for us to know His will. Are we not as important as the people during Moses and Abraham's time? I believe God loves all of His children and blesses them all with His words through a prophet. Today is no different. The prophet today is Thomas S. Monson and he truly is God's mouth piece on the earth.

The main reason I am a mormon is because I simply prayed to know the truth for myself. I prayed and asked God to tell me if this was indeed His Church and if the Book of Mormon was true. God answered me and I am grateful to be a member of His Church.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Mormons go on missions because we want to share the good news that we have received with the people around us. We also serve missions because God has commanded us to "go ye therefore and teach all nations." God wants all of His children to know about Him and so He uses us to teach each other.

I served a mission for the Church at the age of 21. Shortly after turning 18 I felt very strongly that I needed to serve a mission and share the message of God's church once again on the earth with every one I met. I served in Washington D.C. and learned more about myself and the nature of God during those 18 months than at any other time in my life. I learned that God is just waiting to bless us all we need to do is ask.

I also learned that Love is the answer to everything! Love is the reason God created the world. Love is the reason He sent His son to suffer for our sins and then die for us. Love is the reason Christ volunteered to be our Savior. Love is the answer to all of life's problems and the solution to one's selfishness. Love is what motivates people and gives hope. Love teaches and inspires. Love lifts and encourages. Love brings people into the world and it is with love that we let them go back to God.

The world is full of good people. I was blessed to meet several of them in the Washington D.C area. I thank the Lord everyday for the blessing serving a mission has been to my life. I loved sharing my testimony with people and watching them strengthen their relationship with God as they read the Book of Mormon, attended church, and kept the commandments.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church each Sunday. I listen to talks and lessons about Jesus Christ and try to apply the things I learn to my daily life. Also, on Sunday's I teach the young girls ages 14-18. I teach from a church handbook things like: God's plan of happiness, prayer, honesty, morality, self-mastery, and preparing for marriage and motherhood. I love teaching the youth. They have such a love for life and for God. They really impress me with their knowledge of the scriptures and their determination to follow God's commandments.

I also live my faith by teaching my children in my home each day. I teach them about Jesus Christ, prayer, and serving others. When I make dinner or treats for someone in my community who is sick or in need I make sure to use it as a teaching opportunity. My two year old now knows that cookies make people feel better. haha I love seeing the faith of small children. They really are such an example to me. Now I know why the Lord told us to become as a little child. They are truly forgiving and full of love!
