About Me

I'm going to college right now. I love to run, and to read. My dream is to be a published author and I love to write stories. I can play the piano and like music a lot. I'm from a big family and I'm the second oldest, so I try to be a good example to my younger brothers and sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the doors that are opened through the teachings of the church. I feel in my heart that the doctrines are true. That I can be with my family after I die, that I can fix mistakes that I've made in the past, and that there is someone on earth today, who can help me know what to do and where to go. These things and more give me a sense of "super-peace" that just makes me feel good and happy inside. If I didn't know these things to be true, I feel that my happiness would be less, and my life would be a whole lot more confusing. Being a Mormon, for me, means, knowing that little bit extra about life and what happens after it, that makes a whole lot of difference.

How I live my faith

I go to church and try to be a good example to those around me. Sometimes it's hard to go to church every Sunday, or to read in the scriptures daily, but when I do those things and more, it really helps me deal with the everyday challenges that come my way. I help out the other members of the wardI go to by serving and visiting them with another member of the ward. I also like to sing in the choir at church when I can.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a guide to having a healthy body and spirit. Joseph Smith received direction from God about a law of health for the members of the church. We believe that our bodies are gifts from our Heavenly Father, and that taking care of our bodies is another way we can show our love and gratitude to Him. Through the prophet Joseph Smith, we learn that we should avoid alchohol, tobacco, coffee and tea, drugs, and other harmful substances that could hurt our body. The Word of Wisdom also counsels us to eat grains, vegetables and fruits, and meats in good portions. We believe that our bodies are very special because they are the house for our spirits. If we keep our bodies clean and healthy, our outlook on life will be happier because we are keeping God's commandments.

The word of wisdom is the Lord's law of health. We abstain from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and tea, and are encouraged to eat wholesome food and grains, and not eat excessive meat. I am asked all of the time by my fellow residents at the hospital why I don't drink coffee, and how I can stay awake all night on call without it. I don't consider it a sacrifice, though, and am as awake and perform as well as any. It is true that the body will be more healthy when following the word of wisdom, the but the main benefit is spiritual. The knowledge that you are in line with the the Lord's teaching is the most important thing.

The president of the church today is the prophet of the world. His name is Thomas S. Monson. I know he is lead by God and leads God's church.
