Hi, I'm Emily
I'm a wife, a new mom, a food blogger, a musician, a traveler, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a new mother to a beautiful baby boy. My husband and my son are my joy in life. I just graduated with my degree in Elementary Education and am a stay-at-home mom. I am a nap-time food blogger, sewer, and reader. I love singing and playing piano.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born and raised a member of the LDS Mormon Church, but that's not why I'm a Mormon. I'm a Mormon because I've come to know for myself that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I have never felt more peace and happiness than I do when I am living the gospel of virtue and love, which is exactly what being a Mormon is. There's such comfort in knowing that no matter where you go in the world, there will always be other members of your church that will be there for you. I'm a Mormon because I know that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, and in His strength I know I can become like Him. I know that the Lord loves each of His children enough to give them the truth. I've found the truth, and there is nothing sweeter. This is why I'm a Mormon.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
Mormons often get asked if it's hard to follow all the "rules" we have. But I have to say that it's incredible how much easier it really is to make the right choices than to make wrong choices. I think the main reason why is because God wants us to be happy. He only commands us to do that which will bring us happiness and joy. In the moment it might seem harder to walk out of an inappropriate movie or to stand up for something we know is right, but it is so worth it. When we make the right choices, the Lord promises us peace--not as the world giveth, but as He gives John 1427, Bible. When we have that peace, we can feel the Holy Ghost, who helps us resist temptation and keep what's most important in focus. Really, choosing the right actually liberates you and makes you more free.
When I got my first job at age 15 I decided that I would keep the Sabbath Day holy by not working on Sundays. In order to keep my commitment I had to use all of my days off for Sundays and find people to trade shifts with me. I basically had no other days off for the whole summer, and a lot of my coworkers thought I was odd, but choosing not to work Sundays allowed me to make the choice to go to church every week. Choosing to go to church allowed me take the sacrament each week. Choosing to take the sacrament helped me feel clean and strengthened my testimony of my Savior. This allowed me to make the choice to go to the temple later on. Going to the temple helped me choose to be sealed to my husband when we were married. Each good choice helps you choose to do more good and wonderful things that bring so much happiness.
How I live my faith
Every day I try to live so others can see the light of the Savior through me--because it's not about me at all--it's all about Him. It's really the everyday things that make the biggest difference. Praying, reading scriptures, serving others--anything that will help me draw closer to my Heavenly Father is what I try to do. I live my faith by trying to show love for everyone with whom I come in contact.
In my congregation I serve with the children ages 3-12. I keep everything organized and make sure that everyone knows which class they belong to and that they have a teacher each Sunday. I help plan activities and teach them songs about the Savior. I try to live so the children can see my testimony of Jesus Christ in all that I do, but really, the children are so pure they teach me to have stronger faith.
