About Me

I'm a father of two and married to the most wonderful woman in the world. I work in a residential treatment center for teens and enjoy helping them with their problems.

I enjoy leisure reading, firearms, and spending time with my family. Religion and politics are my two favorite topics of conversation.

Why I am a Mormon

Though baptized at the age of 8 and raised in an LDS family, I didn't become converted to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until the age of 20. When looking for answers to my life's difficult questions, I turned to God in prayer. Through His grace I found peace and the unshakable knowledge that I am His son.

All of my greatest joys have come as a result of being a member of the Lord's church: Preaching the gospel in Ukraine, Being married to my wife for time and eternity, Knowing that my wife and children will be with me after this life, Being trusted to hold the Priesthood of God so that I may bless my family and serve my God.

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

Growing up I was an avid reader of the Bible. And though I was raised in an LDS home and knew the stories and principle figures in the Book of Mormon, I hadn't actually read the Book of Mormon completely until I was 20 years old. After reading it fully for the first time I found that it truly is another testament of Jesus Christ.

The Book of Mormon confirms the teachings in the Bible and has increased my faith in the Lord by showing me that our Father in Heaven loves all of his children in all ages all over the world and will reveal his word to them so that they can return to live with him.

How I live my faith

Imperfectly, to be sure. I try to read the Lord's word daily, as well as speak to my Father in Heaven in daily prayer. Attending my weekly meetings and visiting members to walk in the light and fellowship *1Jn 3:7* and to strengthen *Luke 22:32* and be strengthened.

I have had the pleasure to serve in various capacities in my local congregations, whether it's teaching the youth Sunday School class, as a missionary or simply by leading music in a meeting.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

In 1831, a Methodist preacher named Ezra Booth asked Joseph Smith Jr., "Do you believe that you are a prophet, like Moses or Abraham?" The Prophet replied, "I don't think that what you believe and what I believe are all that different. You believe that God used to talk to man. I believe that he still does."

In this simple and humble way, the Prophet Joseph answered Ezra Booth's question in the affirmative.

Since the time of Joseph Smith Jr., there has been an unbroken line of prophetic succession to Thomas S. Monson - the current President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Lord's prophet on the Earth.

Absolutely. If God loved his children in ancient times enough to send them, does He love us any less?

Prophets serve at least 2 purposes.

In the past, Christ Jesus personally called prophets, apostles, evangelists, teachers, deacons, etc, according to the Apostle Paul. He uses such leaders to help move His great work forward, because it is through selfless service that we develop Christ-like qualities and allow us to be one with Him so that we may be One with the Father. Having a living prophet allows the Father to teach hitherto new principles or doctrine to all His children. We can always interpret scripture to meet our intimate needs through personal revelation via prayer and communion with the Holy Ghost. But the greatest acts of service are always done through the synergistic power of communities, whether they are a family or a nation. Our Father in Heaven understands this and he communes with his living prophet, Thomas S Monson, in order to bless the lives of all His children regardless of their circumstances or creeds.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I think this is the question that I am most frequently asked. And as a woman and a member of this church, I consider myself an expert on the subject.

Mormon women are like any body of women--we're all different. We have different goals, we have different backgrounds, and we all have our own and very different struggles. But, there is one thing that unites us: and that is the love we have for the gospel, and the love that our Father in Heaven has for us. We are His daughters. We are oh so special to Him. We have been sent to this earth with talents and abilities that He knows only we can fulfill. These are things that build His kingdom--that lift, inspire, and strengthen those around us.

We believe that we are created equally. Women are not more special or more important than men. Men are not more special or more important than women. We are equal--but just because we are equal doesn't mean the things that we do are going to be the same, or even have to be the same. We work together in equality and together we accomplish what needs to be accomplished--and that can only be done as we work together.
