Hi, I'm Darwin
My early years were spent in Utah but I now live with my family in Arizona. I'm a husband, father, dentist and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am the father of seven and husband to the most beautiful, wonderful woman on the planet. We live in an urban setting where I work as a dentist and where my kids help me garden & raise chickens in our backyard. I enjoy hiking in a nearby mountain preserve and spending time with my family.
Why I am a Mormon
While I was born into a Latter-day Saint family, my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has grown throughout my life. I have come to know that Our Heavenly Father really does know each of us personally and that He hears and answers heartfelt prayer. Through prayer, we can repent and feel the peace that only comes through obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony that the scriptures are our road map and that they are spiritual food. Both the Bible and The Book of Mormon testify of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He is Love! I have a testimony of revelation through the Holy Spirit. I know that Jesus Christ has restored His Church in modern times through living prophets. I know that Joseph Smith was an instrument in God's hands to bring His Church to all of His children in these last days. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet for our time!
To be Mormon is to be HAPPY!
Personal Stories
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
As a member of Christ's true Church I try to accomplish His purposes.
We believe that Jesus Christ is a God of Love to ALL of Our Heavenly Father's children. Because of that, we regularly share the gospel with those around us. We want them to feel the peace and happiness that comes to us as we live His great plan of happiness. That is why we invite our friends to meet with our missionaries to discuss how they too can enjoy the joy of living Our Father's plan.
Many of Our Father's children won't have the opportunity to hear the gospel during this mortal phase of our growth and progression. That is the reason that God has placed special buildings that we call "Temples" around the earth. We have one not far from us in Mesa, AZ. We go there frequently to perform ordinances there for those who have already passed on to the spirit world. The Temple is a place of peace. At present there are some 140 temples throughout the earth where members can go to feel the peace of Christ and feel close to those who have passed on before.
During this life we spend time trying to become more like our Savior. We want to learn to love like He Loved! That is what the Church is all about. God's Love! It's how we improve our lives, day by day and week by week. God knew that we would make mistakes, so the Church is like a hospital for sinners. There we can renew our baptismal covenants and make commitments to improve our lives. When we attend regularly, we feel God's love and peace, and over time we can see how God has changed us.
I know that as we repent and seek to know Our Savior that we can be filled with His love and peace.
It's all true... all of it!
How I live my faith
As a family we spend time together. We have a night every week set aside where we sing together & study the gospel together. We read scriptures together each day and pray together. We plan for the future together in council with one another.
I serve as one of the Gospel Doctrine teachers in Sunday School. I also teach Principios del Evangelio on Thursday evenings for the full time missionaries and those who are investigating the Church and speak Spanish.
