About Me

I taught first grade for 2 years before my husband and I began our family. We have been married for 13 years and have 5 precious daughters. It was important for me to be at home with our children from the start. Although it seemed a financial strain, at the time, it has been well worth the sacrifice. Occasionally, caring for the needs of our children is an overwhelming job. However, it has been the most rewarding decision/"career move" I have ever made.
When I find a moment for myself, I enjoy eating chocolate :), gardening, thrift shopping, amateur photography, listening to music, and a bit of reading.
Our family likes spending time together outdoors and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

I love having the constant stability of the gospel in my life. No matter where I go or where life takes me, I can find the peace church attendance and worship bring.

How I live my faith

I have worked with children, youth and women in our church in various capacities over the years. In each instance, it has helped me to love those individuals as children of God. I think, in serving, I begin to get a glimpse of how He sees each one of us.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Families are forever. The relationships and bonds we create on this earth were not meant to be for time only. The family unit is eternal in nature.
When a loved one passes on from this life, he/she does not cease to exist. His/her spirit moves on and has the ability to grow and develop upon what was begun here on earth. All is not lost. We WILL see our loved ones again!

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a record of the ancient inhabitants of America, and their dealings with God; namely, the native Americans. God is no respector of persons; He loves all His children. He wants us all to make it back to live with Him; the Book of Mormon is proof to me that God loves all people of all nations; why would he only give His Word to just the Children of Israel?
The Book of Mormon was written by the prophets that were called of God on the American Continent; they too testifed that Jesus is the Christ, and he would surely come to redeem us from our sins. The book gets it's name from the prophet Mormon, who collected the individual records kept by prophets throughout the centuries, and complied them into one volume, written on gold plates. He gave them to his son, Moroni, who buried them in a hill by what is now known as Upstate New York. Centuries later, a young man named Joseph Smith, who wanted to know which church was true, had a vision of God the Father and His Son, who told him the truth was lost over the years, and he would be a tool in the Lord's hands to restore what was lost. A few years later, that same Moroni who buried the plates, visited Joseph as an angel of the Lord, and directed him to the ancient record. Through the gift on power of God, he was able to translate the book into English. The Book of Mormon helps us understand the fullness of the Gospel; with the Bible, we can discover God's will for us.
