Hi, I'm Crystal
I'm a "Jane of all trades", I love being outdoors, I'm a wife and a stay-at-home Mom of two girls, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a total book worm! I love to read. I love to have music in my life, I love singing, playing the piano, and listening to music. I love to serve others in any way I can. A smile or a note, helping babysit, or a kind word. It makes me feel good. I love being with my husband and little girls. Since my first child was born I have been a stay-at-home-Mom, and I love it. It was hard at first to adjust to not working and being home all the time, but it's one of the best decisions I've made and I love seeing my girls grow and develop each day!
I love good food! Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, and more. And I especially love baked goods and ice cream! Yum!
Most of all I love reading the scriptures and drawing closer to our Heavenly Father. I feel his love for me, and for us. I love my Savior, and each day I try a little harder to draw closer to him.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into this church. Meaning, all of my family is Mormon. Some people believe that because a person is born into the Mormon church that they don't have a choice about being a Mormon, and they simply have to continue being Mormon. This is simply not true. At many times in my life I have prayed and felt of God's love for me and felt the truth of this Gospel. I was taught that I should gain a testimony of the gospel for myself, and I have done so. The Gospel of our Father in Heaven has done so much for me thoughout my life. It has been my anchor in hard times, it has given me hope when I had none, it has shown me how to find true happiness, and the chuch itself has given me a community of brothers and sisters when I was lonely. I have felt God's love through this gospel, and I know it is true!
Personal Stories
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
One of the many things that I love about our Savior is how he showed his love to everyone. Rich or poor, young or old, there were no differences to him. He taught that we should love everyone and help eachother. That, as we are all children of God, we are all brothers and sisters. I love look at the people in my life that way. Even people I don't know that I might encounter. Each one of them are my brothers and sisters and I should help and love them each as Christ would. This concept really helps me to have a deeper love for everyone around me, and to look past differences I might have with people I know.
How I live my faith
Currently I am the pianist for the Relief Society meeting on Sundays, as well as the Assistant Cub Master for the Boy Scouts. They are somewhat small ways to contribute to the ward, but I feel them strengthen me as I serve and it helps me feel good to play a contributing part to our 'ward community'.
I am also a visiting teacher to a couple ladies in our ward. My visiting teaching companion (another woman from the ward I go with to visit) and I go and visit two others and chat with them once a month, at least. We share experiences and talk about the gospel, as well as get to know each other and become friends. It's always amazing to me how different each of their lives are. One woman we visit has been married one year, and has been with her husband a total of two months out of that year because he is a soldier and has been deployed for the rest of the time. She is so brave and strong to make that sacrifice. Another young woman we visit is single and in college, and works three jobs! She is a great example of tenacity. I love the community our ward offers us. We are a nice little family here, which is great for me because my family lives in another state. We love our ward!
