Hi, I'm Charity
I'm a college student who has too many books and not enough shelves. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm just happy to be alive! :D I'm going to college right now studying psychology. I love to travel the world and have lived in London, NYC, LA and hope to spend a few months in Jerusalem! I love sports, especially basketball, surfing and the martial arts. A few days ago I decided to train for a triathlon so we'll see how that goes. I also enjoy ballroom dancing and acting on stage. When I get stressed out I usually relax by reading, writing or talking to my friends. I like to do creative things-like cook experimentally where there is a 50% chance it'll be edible. I have a never ending bucketlist of things I want to do, see and accomplish before I die. In the end, however, I care more about my friends and family than any of the things I want to do in life. While I do love life, I realize that it can be really hard. My dad died a few days after my 11th birthday and my family moved A LOT throughout my life. Through the pain that comes with death, disappointment, and countless other challenges I have become closer to God and Jesus Christ.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in the Mormon church. My mom and dad grew up in the church. I think a lot of my grandparents and great grandparents did as well. That's how I found out about the church but that's not why I'm a Mormon! I'm a Mormon because I believe in the religion. I believe that God is real. I believe Christ is the Messiah. I believe that Joseph Smith talked to God and Christ and that they speak to Thomas S. Monson, the modern prophet. More than that, I'm a Mormon because I'm happy when I follow the Mormon religion. People may not agree with my beliefs but I've tried them out for myself and can't deny they are true and make me happier! The more I follow Christ the clearer life is and the happier I become. It's hard to explain but I have a feeling of love, hope, peace, confidence and freedom when I choose to follow Christ. I'm a Mormon because I love Christ and want to follow him!

Why do Mormons go on missions?
I'm thinking about going on a mission in a year so this question is great for me. I think some Mormons go because they are expected to by culture but I think most of them and the ones who stay on missions and really are great at it do it because they believe that the Mormon church is God's church. The church makes them so happy and they want to share the good news with everyone else. They realize what a blessing it has been in their life and want to share it with other people. Serving a mission is an extreme kind of service women and men pay to spend 1.5-2 years teaching others about Christ. Simply, they do it because they love the people of the world and want them to be happy.
How I live my faith
I attend church every Sunday. I try to pray and read my scriptures every day because I want Jesus Christ to be the center of my life. It means a lot to me that God listens to my prayers. I don't feel alone. I know that God cares about me because I talk to him when I pray and because the scriptures and prophets of old testify he loves me. I plan social activities for other young adults at my church-like pool parties, picnics, soccer games and dances just so we can have fun! : I have a lot of friends who aren't of my religion and I love them with all my heart. I think that Christ wants us to show Christian love to those of our religion and of other faiths.
