Hi, I'm Karla
I'm a Mormon and an educator.
About Me
I'm an elementary school principal. I joined the church while attending the University of North Dakota. After serving a mission to Japan, I graduated from Brigham Young University and the University of Kentucky. I enjoy hiking, biking, and spending time with family and friends.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in a Christian home and have always believed in God and Jesus Christ. As a child I was taught to pray and learned many faith promoting stories from the Bible. Becoming a Mormon was a natural progression for me. I was able to build on the faith I already had and gain greater knowledge of God, His plan of salvation, and the purpose of life. I'm grateful for the personal relationship I feel with my Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace and happiness to each day.
Personal Stories
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
My experiences with prayer have taught me to "listen." Answers have often come through thoughts and feelings accompanied by a strong feeling of peace. I also have learned that answers don't always come on my timeline. Sometimes I get an immediate answer but at other times I find myself thinking about a challenge and searching the scriptures, talking with friends or leaders, and counseling with God. Then in God's time, the answer comes.
How I live my faith
Prayer and scripture study are part of my daily schedule. Each day I try to find ways to serve others and I'm always amazed at how the Lord opens the door to be in the right place at the right time. I don't think this is ever a coincidence :-. I serve in the church by visiting other women with a monthly spiritual message and offering my help. Each Sunday and Wednesday I work with teenage girls helping them gain spiritual understanding and meet goals they set for themselves. In addition I serve in the St. Paul, Minnesota Temple which is a great blessing in my life.
