Hi, I'm Jenn
I love traveling. I love people. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a college-grad, currently working in the event planning arena. I love studying new cultures, meeting new people, and visiting new places. I am married to a wonderful man who is not a Mormon, but does belong to the Christian faith. So, while we have differences in our faith, we share our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ. We look forward to the adventures we have ahead together, and with our future family.
Why I am a Mormon
If one was to look at this logically, he/she would say that I am a Mormon because my father was raised in the Church and my mom is a convert to the Church. And while this may explain why I was born a Mormon, it doesn't explain why I am today.
I have searched the scriptures. I have prayed. I have pondered the things I have been taught. I know they are true. The Lord speaks to all of us daily. We just have to be willing to listen. I am a Mormon because of this knowledge. I believe we all can have a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. We just have to do our part to make it happen.
Personal Stories
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is the most important tool the Lord has given to us in the life. I use it multiple times daily to communicate with my Heavenly Father.
While I was in college, I took a semester off to work abroad with a friend of mine. We worked for a few months, then traveled around Europe at the end of our trip. Once we had traveled around for a while, my friend left to enjoy some sites with her family. I waited alone for my family to join me. I was living in a hostel at the time, and was feeling extremely lonely. One Sunday, I went to church. I was overcome with tears the entire meeting. It was Christmastime, and I was alone.
I sat there praying that someone would put their arm around me, and remind me that I am not alone. Within seconds of my prayer, the woman next to me did just that. I knew that God had heard my prayer. He was speaking to me through her.
I have had many other experiences with prayer, but this was the most prominent. I am so blessed to know that my Heavenly Father loves me, as He loves all of us. I wish that more people understood this.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?
I think the greatest lesson we can take from our Savior is to love one another. My favorite is story of the Good Samaritan. Too often, we get caught up in our own lives, and we fail to recognize the needs of another. We fail to love others as God would have us love them.
We are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father, and we all have our own journey to go through in this life. One person is not better than another. We are different, and we need to recognize that the differences are wonderful. We have a lot to learn from each other, and I hope that more and more people will understand that as we serve one another, the world becomes a better place.
How I live my faith
One of the wonderful things about the LDS church is how involved all the members can get. I have taught children in primary, taught lessons to the adult women, and served as a ward missionary. These callings have brought me much joy, and closer to my Heavenly Father. They've helped me to get to know other in the Church, and I have developed many long-lasting friendships because of them.
