Hi, I'm Kelvin
I am an IT professional in the Newspaper industry, a father, a husband, an amateur chef. Most importantly I'm a Mormon.
About Me
First and foremost, I am a Husband and Father. I have an amazing wife, who I met at a church dance when I was 14. We were fast friends. We were best friends, though not dating steady, all through High School. We got married at 21 and are still best friends. My two kids keep me young. My daughter loves to learn about the computer and my son is really active. He will play any sport and love it.
Being well rounded is important to me. I am an IT business analyst in the Newspaper industry. I love my job. I am also an amateur chef, singer, writer, runner, hiker and landscaper.
I love to cook. I cook dinner most evenings in my home. My wife graciously lets me invade the kitchen.
I took seven years of private voice lessons and I love to sing. I cannot blend with a choir well, but I have a strong second tenor solo voice.
I am outlining many writing ideas. I hope to be published soon.
Three years ago I ran my first marathon. I am hoping to run another one in 2 years, after I get back into proper shape.
I love hiking in the mountains. The feeling of hiking into a remote location with all of life's necessities on my back and staying a while is wonderful. I like to take a few hiking trips every year.
Fresh out of High School I worked with a landscaper. Ever since I have enjoyed working in my yard. It is satisfying to mow, edge, weed, plant and see the results after a long Saturday.
Why I am a Mormon
Being a Mormon requires a level of commitment that cannot be maintained without a sure knowledge that it is the church led by Jesus Christ himself. I have come to personally know this to be true. Through the works of the church members and my own prayers I have felt the testifying spirit of the Holy Ghost confirm that I am a member of Jesus Christ's church on the earth and that he leads it today through a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. This fact keeps me focused on living the gospel of Jesus Christ as I face the challenges of life.
Personal Stories
What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?
We have a son with high functioning autism. He adds an element of adventure to our home. He has a kind heart but lacks judgment. My wife and I have become more of a team so we can help him adjust to life and find happiness. Our kids are becoming more obedient as they see my wife and I work in solidarity with them. My wife and I frequently pray together and seek direction from our Father in Heaven for our family. We read the scriptures and pray daily as a family. We often find ways to teach our kids about the gospel of Jesus Christ and why we follow him. We have helped the kids to recognize when they feel the Holy Ghost.
How I live my faith
I volunteer to lead a group of senior men in the church as we serve our fellow congregation members. We look after many families, including widows, single mothers and the elderly. This responsibility provides me opportunities to put my faith into practice as I serve congregation members.
