Hi, I'm Desirae
I'm a mom. I'm a teacher. I am a breast cancer survivor. I love to serve. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a wife and mom of 4 great kids. I love to be creative and to sing and play the piano. I love to serve others both in the church and in my community. Every day is an adventure and I am just trying to enjoy the ride. I found out in August 2011 that I have breast cancer and am currently undergoing treatment for that. This experience has only strengthened my testimony of my Savior and His atonement.
Why I am a Mormon
I know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me and knows me by name. My Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered for my sins in Gethsemane so that I can repent when I make mistakes. I have always been a member of the church, but was converted as a teenager when I decided to find out for myself if this church was true. I prayed to my Father in Heaven and read in the Book of Mormon and Bible. Each time I would do these things, I would feel a sweet spirit of peace and comfort telling me that this church is true- that my Father in Heaven loves me- that my Savior loves me and died for me- and that Joseph Smith saw the Father and the Son.
Personal Stories
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I know that my Father in Heaven has blessed me with talents and skills so that I can be an instrument in His hands here on earth. I have a busy life and am involved in lots of things in my church and in the community. I know that I have been blessed with certain skills and talents so that I can help others.
Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?
I am currently facing the challenge of beating cancer and could not do it without my knowledge of a Father in Heaven who loves me and is helping me through this. I have put my hand in His and He has carried me through the rough patches. My faith has sustained me and continues to grow as I see miracle after miracle in my life. I have my low moments for sure, but I feel so blessed to know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who knows me, loves me, and helps me through the hard times.
How I live my faith
My greatest blessing and greatest challenge is that of being a mother. My Father in Heaven has blessed me with 4 of his beautiful children to teach and nurture here on earth. I am also so lucky to have the opportunity to teach and serve the younger children of our congregation and also work with the teenage girls once a year during their summer camp. All of these things keep me very busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I know that it is through my Savior that I am able to do all things. He eases my burdens and carries me when things get rough.
