Hi, I'm Megan
I am a daughter of God. I'm a wife. I'm a friend. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I was born and raised in a suburb of Los Angeles. I'm the oldest of four kids and I absolutely love my parents and siblings -- even if we don't get along every second of the day. I went to college at BYU in Provo, UT where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I came back to Los Angeles with the hope of putting my degree to good use, but due to the economic climate was unable to find work in the teaching field. I now work as an executive assistant at one of the major movie studios, but I hope to someday get back into teaching. I got married to my wonderful husband in February of 2009, and I love building a life with him. We just bought our first house, and spend a lot of our spare time fixing it up. Any other free time is spent scrapbooking, watching movies, reading, writing in my journal and on my blog, and spending time with my dear friends and family.
Why I am a Mormon
Ultimately, I am a Mormon for 3 reasons: 1- Because I have felt the truth of the Gospel principles in my heart and in my head, and I know Jesus Christ is the head of this church, 2- because this Gospel promises that families can be together forever even after this life, and 3- because living the Gospel and associating with other members of the church makes me HAPPY.
I was raised in the Mormon church by parents who made it a point to let me know their testimonies that it was Christ's church restored to the earth. I lived off their testimonies for a while, but I always knew from the time I was a small child that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and answers my prayers, and that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer. As I got older I continued living the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and realized that I was the happiest when I remained faithful to those things, and that something was missing when I fell short of doing what I knew was right. My testimony that this was the true church was solidified after reading the Book of Mormon. A power comes into my life when I read it, and I come closer to my Savior.
Personal Stories
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
The Plan of Happiness has benefited my life because it has given me purpose.
I know who I am. I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father.
I know why I am here. I am here to gain a physical body, to prove my faithfulness to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, to build meaningful relationships with those I meet on my journey, and to learn compassion and joy through the trials and experiences I have on earth.
I know where I am going. I do not cease to exist once my mortal body dies. My spirit will continue to live in heaven until I am resurrected. Once I am judged by Christ I will live in a celestial world where I will be able to experience immortality and eternal life in His presense, the presense of Heavenly Father, and the presence of my husband and other family members.
Knowing all of those things gives me hope and peace, and the ability to continue trudging on even when the going gets tough.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by going to my church meetings every week, visiting our temple here in LA every month or so, and visiting other women in my ward congregation to share with them a lesson and reach out to them in any way I can. In my workplace I don't go around broadcasting the fact that I'm Mormon, but I don't try to hide that fact either. I talk to people about my beliefs when they ask and try to be an example of Jesus Christ in all that I do.
