Hi, I'm Ashton C. S.
I am a Latter-Day Saint Mormon
About Me
I am Currently Between Colleges as I am about to transfer to BYUI, I enjoy swimming, Geocaching, Biking, Hiking, Climbing, Gardening, Cooking etc. I am majoring in business management with a minor in culinary arts. I really enjoy watching the expressions on people's faces as they eat something I have made them. I come from a family of six kids, I being the 4th, I love my family so much and I am really excited to start my own in the future. Every single week I take a trip to Los Angeles to visit the LA Temple and help rescue some of those who are trapped having not had the opportunity do have their saving ordinances done in their own life.
Why I am a Mormon
When I was in High school, I was a happy kid... I was involved in Sports Swimming and wrestling, and I loved them... Around my junior or senior year I became a bit depressed, and nothing could fix it... I tried to fix it, and it just didn't work... I was one day home alone and I had nothing to do, I happened to notice a copy of the book of mormon in my room and began to read it, as i did so, I remembered also to have been taught my whole life that if we want to know if it is true we need to ask... It was time for me to stop living of my parent testimony... I knelt down and began to pray, and no sooner than i had asked the question, the depression of which i have spoken left me, and i have been happy since... There is nothing that can take away the knowledge which God had given me.
Personal Stories
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
I served as a missionary for the Idaho Boise Mission, what we did there was to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with whoever would let us talk to them. In the field I saw lives change as they learned the gospel and grasped the hand of Jesus... accepting him as their savior and doing the things he asks of them... some found it easier to accept than others, others had to fight off addiction, but with the help of the savior I saw them overcome.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?
I was about 14 when I decided to read the New testament for the first time, I was in the sermon on the mount and I read a verse that affected me for the rest of my life (thus far), The verse read "pray for them that curse you..." when I read that I realized that when people do mean things to me or others in my life I need to just forgive them and move on with my life, but while so doing praying for them, their well being, their heart to be softened, and as I began to practice this in my life it began to make a difference, I found myself a little happier, and less angry at those other people. I know you can find this as well when you do the same.
How I live my faith
I just finished serving a two year mission for the church In Idaho, I will now become a member missionary, Being a living example of the joy the gospel brings...
