Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the church, I knew I had something special. The church is part of who I am and it brings me closer to Heavenly Father. It is the true church and I love the influence it has on my life. It helps me to become a better person.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

It is a chance to get away from the world for one day. I spend three hours focusing on the gospel and on learning more about my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. As the ward is my family, I also spend time with them and we learn together. It gives me strength for the week ahead, answers to questions and comfort during troubled times. It's a lovely little gospel break.

How I live my faith

As I'm currently between wards, I'll let you know when I get a calling and when I get involved in my ward in Scotland. More information coming!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

I know that by studying the Bible and Book of Mormon, you can increase your faith. Personally, when I studied and pondered the stories of Christ in the New Testament, I came to know and trust in my Savior even more. You can do this as well.

Simply by trying to. If you have a desire to increase your faith in Jesus Christ, try to do it. Start by praying. Read his words in the Bible. Try to put them into practice. For example, he told us to "love one another." Try and follow that teaching. Be nice to others, help people who might have less than you, smile... As you do so, you will notice a change come over you. You might feel more peace in your life, a calm enter your mind, or a warm feeling that seems to say you're doing the right thing. These things help you realize your faith is growing. Faith is an action word. If you put action behind your belief, I have found that it will grow.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely. If God loved his children in ancient times enough to send them, does He love us any less?

Prophets serve at least 2 purposes.

In the past, Christ Jesus personally called prophets, apostles, evangelists, teachers, deacons, etc, according to the Apostle Paul. He uses such leaders to help move His great work forward, because it is through selfless service that we develop Christ-like qualities and allow us to be one with Him so that we may be One with the Father. Having a living prophet allows the Father to teach hitherto new principles or doctrine to all His children. We can always interpret scripture to meet our intimate needs through personal revelation via prayer and communion with the Holy Ghost. But the greatest acts of service are always done through the synergistic power of communities, whether they are a family or a nation. Our Father in Heaven understands this and he communes with his living prophet, Thomas S Monson, in order to bless the lives of all His children regardless of their circumstances or creeds.
