I am a corporate merchant, tech nerd, and professional laugher. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 25 year old business professional who works in the retail industry. I grew up just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah in Kaysville. I served my mission in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and loved every minute of it. After my mission, I attended Brigham Young University- Idaho, where I graduated in Business Management, with an emphasis in Marketing. I met the love of my life while I was at school and we are happily married living in Northwest Arkansas. We had our first child this past October.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a loving family who was able to teach me about the gospel. I am not Mormon because I was born into the church, I am Mormon because I realized how happy the gospel makes my family.

How I live my faith

Although it is hard to continually live the gospel, I find solace in scripture reading, praying, and attending church meetings. I find myself happiest when I am actively involved in my ward.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Some people who don't fully understand the gospel think it is wrong that women don't hold the priesthood. We as children of God have responsibilities on this earth. Men and women both should strive to fulfill these sacred responsibilities. Women have the role of being caretakers and are responsible to teach their children. This role is just as much important, if not more important than holding the priesthood. By women and men fulfilling our divine responsibilities, we can create family units, which is God's strongest tool to bring us back to him.
Women can lead in the church through Relief Society callings, primary callings for children, and by visiting teaching. Just because they don't hold the priesthood doesn't mean they aren't as important. God loves us all and gives us roles that will strengthen us and those around us.

As a primary president in my ward, I share in the direction and leadership of our ward. I don't feel secondary in any way. Whether you have the priesthood or not, you are still responsible to listen to the direction of the Savior. The priesthood is a tool and power that is the same power of the Savior. It allows the human authority to do work on earth, particularly perform ordinances, and bless others. As if the Savior was here in person during His ministry accounted for in the New Testament. I would use an analogy to compare the priesthood as a car. A car is an amazing tool allowing you to get you from here to there. I don't mind my husband driving and I can offer some navigation or work the radio, as long as we and our children get there.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We do not know why some people are attracted to others of the same gender. Is it the way they were born or is it a choice? We simply don't know.

What we do know is that everyone is a spirit child of God, and that He loves all his children. We should love EVERY man or woman who walks the earth, and reserve judgment for our Heavenly Father, who knows and understands all his creations.

At the same time, God has revealed his will on many matters through his servants the prophets. Through them, we know that sexual relations between any but a man and woman, legally and lawfully married, is displeasing to Him. Just as unmarried men and women should remain morally clean, so should those who feel attracted to others of the same gender.
