About Me

I live in the greater Kansas City metro area. I have six kids. I have coached my kids soccer teams and led their Boy Scout troops. I'm a Sales Representative for a major international company.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon but choose to leave the faith from age 14 to 20. I went to many other churches and have met many wonderful Christians that are still friends today. While those churches do good, they never brought me a sense of peace and contentment. So I looked back at the faith of my youth and found the sense of peace and fulfilment that my spirit yearned to know. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed me into the person that I have always wanted to be.

Personal Stories

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The Savior's teaching on how to treat one another has influenced my life the most. He taught how to love through his perfect example. He was slow to anger and quick to forgive. He was patient and long suffering. I love the Savior and want to be like him.

How I live my faith

I try and be kind to everyone I meet. I look for opprotunities to serve God's children. It may be as simple as stopping to talk to someone that looks sad or holding the door for someone.
I try to have personal and family scripture study as well as family and personal prayer daily.
I serve in my church by working with young men.

Are Mormons Christians?

YES, I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I believe that he suffered in Gethsemane and was crucified on the cross at Golgatha. I'm a Mormon and I'm a Christian.

Yes, Mormons are definitely Christians! The official name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. In fact during the course of the Book of Mormon, Christ appears and ministers to the people of The Book of Mormon. We just like other Christian denominations believe that Christ is our Savior. I personally know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He lived and died for me, and the atonement makes it possible for me to be forgiven and cleansed from my sins.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Absolutely not! I grew up in the church and I'd say the number of people that I've helped in the church is significantly smaller than the number of people I've assisted out side the church. This is not to say I don't help my fellow church members. We believe that we are all children of our Heavenly Father. And by that reasoning we are all brothers and sisters. I take that to heart and when I see someone in need I try to help to the best of my ability and training. Organized service projects aside, I've helped several stranded motorists on the side of the road. I give food to people I've seen that appear to be hungry on the side of the road. And for a long time, when I was growing up, my dad and I would do Meals on Wheels for those in need. I've volunteered at soup kitchens more recently. And during times of widely known hurricanes, I've volunteered on clean up crews multiple times. There is a song we have in our church called "Because I Have Been Given Much." I don't want to post the entire lyrics here, but they are available on a popular search engine. That song is very poignant to me and has always been near and dear to my heart. Also being a former Boy Scout, I have tried to uphold both the Scout Law and Oath to this day. I love my Heavenly Father, and I love my fellow man and want to do all I can to help others in any way I can.
