Chat With a Mormon Online
I've been married to my best friend for 27+ years, and we have 3 children. Our two youngest are currently serving missions Chile and California. Our oldest child is married and just made me a Grandma, which HAS to be the BEST thing ever! I graduated from college in Nursing and Sociology and enjoyed working in the NICU for many years. I quit my job several years ago to be a full-time mom. I love to road bike, walk my two german shepherds, travel, bake, make jewelry with anything that sparkles, and do anything "crafty! I love life!
I was born into a large Mormon family, so I've been a member of the Mormon Church all of my life. However, I have learned for myself of the truthfulness of the Gospel, and I believe that the Book of Mormon is true! I LOVE reading the Book of Mormon, and I've experienced the person "conversion" so to speak that comes from KNOWING that I believe! I've faced many challenges in my life, and there was a time that I was too discouraged to care. A close brother had similar struggles, but he made the devastating choice of suicide. I chose LIFE from that point on, and I found real JOY in LIVING! I re-discovered PURPOSEFUL and righteous living, and I have never been happier! Being a Mormon has helped me through the hard times and has given me direction in my life. I have HOPE because I know that I can be forgiven of my mistakes, and I know how much God loves ME!
There is a wonderful story in the first part of the Book of Mormon chapter 8 where the Prophet Lehi has a dream about the Tree of Life. There is such beautiful symbolism in this dream. In the beginning, he's traveling lost in a "dark and dreary waste". He prays to the Lord for direction, and he sees a field with a tree there "whose fruit was desirable to make one happy". There is a narrow pathway leading to this tree with an iron rod alongside it. He dreams that those who hold onto this iron rod tightly are able to reach their destination the Tree of Life. The symbolism is explained in chapters 11 and 15. The Tree represents the LOVE of GOD and its fruit the greatest GIFT of God Eternal life. The iron rod is the WORD of God, and if held continually can lead one through all the perils of life represented by the Mists of Darkness. As I try to "Hold to the Rod" tightly with both hands and all 10 fingers, I am HAPPY! I am blessed with peace and joy as I go through my days, comfort when I'm weary and discouraged, and hope when I have questions! I love the great parables and stories from the Book of Mormon. I love the HEROS who stood tall through times of wickedness! I love the stories of the "wicked" who repented and had a "change of heart" and "no more desire to do evil". I am blessed EACH and EVERY day as I read the Book of Mormon and the Bible and apply the messages to ME!
I try to live my faith by EXAMPLE! I'm a happy person and love to smile! I love to serve others and find that I'm happier when I'm not thinking of myself! I'm at peace with myself and my life! I try to LIVE my life in harmony with the things I claim to believe in! There are always people watching, even if they don't realize it. They tend to notice the clean, moral and honest way Mormon's live, and they want to know WHY? I feel that the best way I can represent my church is by the way I LIVE!
