My whole life has been spent on a field. Football, baseball, and now the mission field. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a small town boy from Idaho. I am very proud of where I come from and where I am going. I love sports -football in particular- and the outdoor adventures that Idaho has to offer; namely Elk and Mule Deer hunting and trout fishing on the Snake River. Right now I love being a Spanish speaking missionary in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because a neighbor had the courage to share what had blessed her life with my family. The people were so great to my family and the message brought us so much hope and peace. I was young when it all happened, and the time came that I had to find out for myself. Through a couple bumps in this road we call life in my teenage years I could tell that if I was going to try and make this journey alone that it was going to be impossible. I knew that I needed the help of somebody greater than I to come anywhere close to my potential. Thanks to the guidance of our Heavenly Father and to wonderful people that have always been there to help me I now realize some very important things. The morst important in my mind is that through what Christ did for us there is nothing that we can't accomplish. If we sin, we can repent. If we have weaknesses, they can become strenths. If we love our families and want to be with them forever, we can make promises with God to make that a reality. If we need to change to become what we want to be, we can. There is nothing that can stop us but us. We are free to choose and we have everything we need. We just have to choose Jesus Christ and the way to happiness is paved.

One key thing about me being a Mormon is the Book of Mormon. I know that it is true by the power of God. I prayed to know of its validity and had a wrestling match within my soul and I got an answer that I can not and will not deny. I know that if one will read the Book of Mormon and ponder its message with an open mind and then ask God our father in the name of Jesus Christ if it is true that he/she will get an answer. Might I say that knowing that it is true is a life changing experience.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

Well the missions of the Church are all designed to share what has helped us out so much. We want all men everywhere to know, feel, see, and experience what we do as we have the blessings of the Restored Gospel. That is why missionaries such as myself go out for 2 years to talk to everybody they can about it. Yup, that's right. Those guys in white shirts and ties are not there to bug you but they are young men who sincerely want to help you and your family. Now, they might give it a shot through some yard work and what not but I'll tell you that there is more help than you'd ever imagine coming your way if you allow missionaries such as myself into your home to share the gospel with you. We love to answer questions and we love to help it make sense for you. You, you, you. You are who we want to help, the thing is though, you've gotta let us before we can. Go ahead though, you'll never regret it!

How I live my faith

Right now I live my faith by being a full-time missionary in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission. I speak Spanish to share my testimony with those that have a language barrier. It is the best experience ever!!!

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

It is to get ready to go back to live with God, which has been the plan since the beginning. Think about it... What happens when you do something bad? You feel bad, right? Ok, now what about something good? Good, right? Those feelings are God communicating with us to help us stay on the right path. He wants us on the right path because he wants us back. While we are here we are to learn and grow and enjoy all that we can, nothing makes Him happier. But, along the way we need to be on His path. If we get lost along the way, it's ok. In one way or another we all get lost sometime. That is where Jesus Christ comes into the equation. Our purpose has everything to do with accepting Jesus Christ and what he did for us. We do that by keeping the commandments, having faith, repenting, following Christ's example by being baptized by proper authority, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and then as my coach always taught me, "Play 'till the whistle blows", or in other words, to endure and stay strong untill the end. If we will do those things we will find and fulfill the purpose of this life and we will return to live with God again.

A lot of people asked me this question on my mission, and, on the flip side, I asked it to a lot of people as well. Many people were surprised when I read them one verse from the Book of Mormon, that being "Adam fell that men might be and men are, that they might have joy." -2 Nephi Chapter 2 Verse 25.
It's simple the purpose of life is to have joy. Now, joy is not fleeting, it doesn't depart when things get rough, it doesn't have negative consequences nor connotations, and you will never be ashamed to be found having a joyful experience. I think of it this way real joy is that which you would be excited to see the Lord join you in your happiness. If it isn't worthy to be in the Lord's presence, it's probably not real joy. Real joy comes from lasting relationships like father and son, mother and daughter, husband and wife, friends that you would stay with forever from experiences which you always look back upon with a happy memory from making promises to God and keeping them from doing that which is right in the sight of the Lord. That is what real joy is, and when you feel that type of joy, you will feel the love that the Lord has for you in that very moment.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

I believe that Mothers have the power to combat the evils of our day, one child, one bedtime story, and one encouraging conversation at a time. When we teach our children about their worth as children of God, they will find confidence in themselves, and they will be armed with the power to make correct choices and the wisdom to recognize that following Jesus Christ is the path to true happiness.
