I’m a retired United States Navy Master Chief Electrician’s Mate and during my years in the Navy I served onboard nuclear powered cruisers and aircraft carriers. I'm an Amateur Radio Operator and a member of the ARRL, AMSAT-NA, TAPR, and a variety of local clubs.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Catholic, attended Catholic school, and for the most part I stayed out of trouble. Despite activity at Church, I always felt that there was something more. I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found what was missing.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

So many people do not understand the concept of freedom of choice. Where it's true you can and should be free to do anything you choose to do, you cannot and should not be free to choose the consequences of your actions. If you make a bad choice, you should suffer the consequences. Good choices lead to good consequences which will strengthen you and make it easier to do the right thing in the future. The most difficult part is the realization that many blessings from choosing the right may not show up right away. Patience is a requirement since blessings are delivered on the Lord's timetable.

How I live my faith

Throughout my membership in the Church I've served in a wide variety of callings. It's so true that there is no one calling that is any more important than any other calling, but sometimes you have the opportunity to be the most important person called when you're needed by someone in the Ward or Stake. I try to be available and provide my help whenever it is needed, for my benefit as well as for the person in need.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Without grace, none of us would ever make it back to Heavenly Father. We never even come close to being as perfect and as clean as we would have to be in order to live with Him again. He expects us to do our best, every single day. If we do not do as he teaches, we can and we will be held accountable for our actions. We are taught to follow His commandments and this we must do for grace to be effective for us when we return to Him. I consider the concepts of repentance and forgiveness to be some of the greatest gifts we could ever be given.

We believe 100% that we are saved by grace. Absolutely. Period. No person can be saved by his or her works, no matter how great he or she is, and how many good things he or she did. In order to qualify for Christ's grace, however, we must live righteously, repent, and humble ourselves before the Lord.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Nope, “every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood, with power to exercise its divine authority, and enjoy with his loved ones every blessing that flows therefrom, including the blessings of the temple. Accordingly, all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color.”
