Janean: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Janean

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young mother of one and a loving wife, also of one. I am out going, a jokster and fun-loving. I like to be creative and have a passion for interior design. I married the most amazing guy ever who is a super talented Industrial Designer. Being creative and being married to a Creative is a great combination. My husband indulges in my creativity and jumps on board with my crazy ideas. We like to play sports, go to museums, travel, go to beach and pool and be with family. I find joy in getting my hands into everything.I love a good read, a great pair of heels, a warm beach, a cheesy movie, and anything creative. I love life and living it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church my whole life and was baptized at the age of 8. I have been aware of the blessings of living the gospel principles and heeding the teachings of Christ since I was about 12. Many people say they dont know where they would be without the church in their life, but I know exactly where I would be. Its not a bad place, but its definitely an empty place. I think if I wasnt a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I didnt know the happiness I know now, from having a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, through prayer, I would look for happiness elsewhere. I would look for it in the praise of others. I find so much joy in living the gospel and knowing that God knows me, personally, and cares about me. I have had many experiences in life where God has answered my prayers and given me the answers that I dont necessarily want, but need, because he knows me. My life is so whole being a member of this church. I am grateful for the principles that are taught in family importance and togetherness, so much of family values are lost in the world, and I love being married to a man, in the temple, that feels the same way I do about, family prayer, and family night, and the importance of putting everything else aside, video games, laptops, sports, to be with ME, and our little family. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy, it makes me a nicer person, a better person, a better friend, a better wife and mother and gives me an amazing perspective on life. I am a Mormon, over any other religion because there are too many things in this church that are true, to not be one. The people of the church are not perfect but the principles are. I can not deny the relationship I have God and Jesus Christ and the spirit I feel when I read the Book of Mormon, The New Testament or any other teachings, by prophets old and new. The burning in my heart and the spirit speaking to my mind. That is why I am a Mormon.

Personal Stories

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

Being young and newly married can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. Two different people coming together, with two different ways of doing things. Different way of communicating, thinking, doing, dishes, folding towels, and all these things are small, but can cause friction. I think the best solution we have had to this, is to not only make sure that we keep an open line of communication, telling each other how we feel, but also making sure we are praying individually and together, also reading our scriptures and getting that spiritual inspiration helps too. By praying and strengthening our relationship with God, it helps us to be in tune with each others needs. It helps me to apologize quicker, and to understand that the majority of the time I am misinterpreting what my husbands intentions are and what he is saying. If I take a step back, and strive to not get angry or be quick to judge and put myself in his place it really helps us to fight less. By fighting less we have the spirit in our home more and are more inclined to be happier people, by being happier people we are better parents and friends to one another.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every week, all 3 hours, attending the activities and parties my ward throws, paying my tithing, visiting the sick and needy and just being there for those who need it. In my ward I am asked to take over the nursery, thats where the little ones, ages 18 mo to 3yrs, go while the moms and dads, either teach other classes or go to classes. I love it. I love being around them and feeling their little warm spirits. We have music time, and play time, snack time and a little lesson, usually these lessons consist of something simple like, I am thankful for bugs, or Jesus loves me. Its really a lot of fun. I think the best part about nursery is getting to see the gospel come full circle. In my mind, there is no way that these little babies can be so diverse and unique if it wasnt for a God. It is really testimony building.
