Sheralyn: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Sheralyn

I live in the South. I homeschool. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom with six great kids. I collect nativities from around the world and I love to read!

Why I am a Mormon

We moved often when I was growing up--I attended six schools in four states. I saw a big difference between the way my family lived and the world around me. I love the peace I found in my home and church and want that for my family.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

My dad served a mission in Peru, my husband served in California, and my brother went to Chile. After they retired, my grandparents went out twice--once to Nigeria and once to Singapore. Right now my oldest child is serving a mission in Ukraine and my second child is preparing to go to Colombia. Everywhere we go, we find wonderful children of God. We go on missions to tell the world that God loves us all and cares about how we live.

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

When my children were toddlers, my husband was working nights and I was frustrated trying to keep them quiet while he slept. And he worked every other Sunday, so we went to church without him about half the time--not what I wanted for my family at all!
One Sunday morning we had a special conference an hour and a half from my home. I took the children and found the answer I needed to my problems. A speaker said we should pray with our families twice a day and read the scriptures to our children every day. That was almost twenty years ago, and it's really worked!! My children love each other and they try to do what their dad and I ask them. Most importantly, they love the Lord.

How I live my faith

I belong to a tiny congregation in the rural South. I drive my kids 45 minutes each way to youth activities once a week. On Sundays I worship in a chapel that's ten minutes from my home. I'm president of our local women's organization.
