Hi, I'm Camber
I'm a wife and a registered nurse. I love reading, cooking, laughing, and exercising. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I was born and raised in Arizona and met my husband in Utah while we were going to school. Now we live in Iowa while my husband goes to graduate school, and I work as a registered nurse. We love being together and also around people in general, and love doing things outdoors like hiking, running, camping, biking, and cross-country skiing. I also love to read, exercise, and cook.
Why I am a Mormon
There is nothing else in my life that brings me greater joy, purpose, and strength than my faith in Christ and His restored Gospel. Although I was born a member, as a teenager I spent a lot of time studying and praying so I could find out for myself if this was Christ's church. Through many experiences feeling the Holy Spirit witness to me of Jesus Christ and this Gospel, I truly have found that knowledge for myself, and so can anyone. I love the doctrine of families and have found a lot of joy in my eternal marriage to my husband. I cannot imagine going through life without the solace of prayer, the comfort of the Holy Ghost, the guidance of Christ's teachings in the Bible and Book of Mormon, and the continuing guidance we receive through a modern prophet. These things have helped me through countless trials and heartaches and given me strength to do things I never could have accomplished on my own.
Personal Stories
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
One of my earliest experiences with prayer happened when I was a young child and we went on a trip to see our grandparents. My dad wasn't able to come, so my mom drove us four children by herself. Before we left on trips, we always liked to say a prayer for protection, and this time my little brother, who was only 4 or 5 at the time, offered the prayer. His words were simple as he asked Heavenly Father to protect us on the trip, but he prayed with the faith that young children are blessed with.
During the trip, we drove over long stretches of hot Arizona desert, passing relatively few towns or people. As we approached one town, the car started making strange noises and slowing down, then failed completely just as we pulled into a gas station. My mom worriedly found a pay phone this was before the age of cell phones and called my dad, who advised her to look for a car dealership that specialized in our car's make. My mom looked out the window and saw, to her surprise, that very dealership right across the street from the gas station! They were able to quickly repair our car and we completed our trip with only a few hours' delay.
Even as young children, we could recognize how dangerous our situation could have been had the car broken down during one of those long stretches of desert, with no phone or means to call for help. To us it was a beautiful witness that Heavenly could hear and answer even the prayer of a young child, that He cared enough about us to protect us during our trip.
Since that time, I have had many similar experiences though less dramatic that have confirmed to me that Heavenly Father does indeed hear and answer my prayers, and cares about the things that happen to me in my life.
How I live my faith
Staying close to Heavenly Father requires daily effort, just like my marriage or any other relationship I want to keep strong. So every day I pray morning and night and study the scriptures, and we also pray and read scriptures as a family. Attending meetings on Sunday is also a priority for our family, so we can worship with others and also serve others. Love and service were central to Christ's ministry, and I find that the more I serve others, the happier I feel. The last few years, I have helped coordinate efforts to make sure every sister at church gets visited monthly. That was a lot of work, but since I feel strongly that Heavenly Father is aware of each person, and also deeply loves them, then ensuring that everyone is cared for seems to come naturally. I know that as I serve other people, I do what Christ would do for them if He were here.
