Hi, I'm Scott
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a physician, a neuro-ophthalmologist to be specific. I'm also a husband and a dad.
Why I am a Mormon
My parents both converted to the Mormon faith before I was born and they raised us in the faith. I am a dedicated member of this church.
This church has given me a lot. I feel that I have answers where many others just have questions. I have a clear source of guidance. And most importantly I have felt that participating in this church has nurtured my relationship with my Heavenly Father and brought me to my Savior- Jesus Christ.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Imagine if you knew that these messages were true. Isn't that something amazing? Isn't that something worth telling other people about?
A mission is a great chance to do that.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
We believe that certain things are required by God. For example, all people must be baptized to enter into heaven. Many people live and die without ever having the opportunity to do this. We believe that God has provided a way that someone can have this done on their behalf after they've died. We feel a special interest in doing this type of work for our own ancestors. That is why we feel it is important to know our family history.
We hope that our deceased ancestors will accept this work done in their behalf, but we also recognize that they are still free to accept or deny what we do in their behalf.
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was baptized a few weeks after I turned 8 years old. The baptism was held at the church building. The font wasn't filled ahead of time, and to speed things up the font was filled without using the filter. I guess that filter was important because the water came out pretty brown. My Dad joked that it was going to be like a jungle baptism.
I remember thinking about that dirty water and thinking how this baptism was for a different kind of clean. My baptism allowed me to become spiritually clean.
How I live my faith
I just try to follow Christ's teachings in my daily life. I work to be a good example of a Christian. Everyday includes scripture reading and prayers. I teach the gospel to my children. I attend church every week and I help out teaching Sunday School.
