Hi, I'm Evan
I'm a movie buff, I'm a musician, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I was born in Utah and lived there until I was 7. Then, I moved to Oklahoma and I have lived there ever since. I am a lover of almost all music. I enjoy watching sports but I also like going to plays and musicals. I love playing the French Horn and the Trumpet. I absolutely love watching movies. I find most of the best memories with my family and friends have been at a movie theatre or at home having a movie night. I also thoroughly enjoy reading. My favorite book is probably "The Count of Monte Cristo" followed closely by the Harry Potter Series. I am planning to go to college for Podiatry Foot Doctor. I am a very family oriented person. I will take any excuse to be around my family.
I thoroughly believe that my family is the greatest. I am the youngest of four. I have two older brother and an older sister. All three of my siblings are married to wonderful people. I have a nephew and two nieces. My parents have been happily married for 28 years and counting.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a member of this church because it has brought me and my family true happiness. It is also true. This is Jesus Christ's church. He leads and guides it through modern prophets and apostles. I was born in the church but I was 16 or 17 when I gained my undeniable testimony that this is the true church. I received this testimony by truly wanting to know what my Heavenly Father wanted for me. I studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Then, I did what the Apostle James directs in James 1:5. That is if we lack wisdom we should ask God through prayer. I did that and through the Holy Spirit I know that this is where Heavenly Father wants me to be.
Personal Stories
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was baptized when I was 8 years old. I remember that it was about two months after my family had moved to Oklahoma. I was baptized by my Dad. I remember that one of my aunts flew in and gave a talk and that my parents gave me a new set of scriptures. I remember the amazing feeling I had of being so clean and that Heavenly Father was happy with me.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
The main reason that we do family history work is because we believe that families are eternal. Eternal meaning that it isn't till death do us part but forever throughout all time and eternities. I personally love doing genealogy work. I remember trying to help my family with is since I was very young. I also remember that I was doing it on an old laptop that ran on MS-DOS. I am hoping that I can continue to fill in the gaps in the generations of my family and be able to help those ancestors receive those ordinances like baptism that are essential for salvation and exultation.
How I live my faith
As of right now I am a recently returned missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I lived my faith for two years by going and sharing it with others. I enjoy helping others learn about the Church and to invite them to see and enjoy the blessings and the happiness that I have found through this church. To me the best way to help others see the blessings that I see in my life is to invite them to stand beside me and see for themselves. Now that I am no longer a full-time missionary I will still live my faith by doing the best I can to help others.
