I am a high school speech teacher and debate coach. I have served on the City Council and I enjoy politics. I am a Mom and a Grandma. I love to travel! I also love to make homemade chocolates.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Lord, Jesus Christ and wanted to be a member of his Church. I love how Christ-centered my life is as a Mormon. I love my family very much and want to be with them forever. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has taught me how I can!

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

After my first husband died, the Holy Ghost was a wonderful source of comfort in my life. I learned to pray that Heavenly Father would send the Comforter when things got really hard. And He did. The Holy Ghost helped me to heal and to move forward. He helped me to help my children through the loss of their father. I am so grateful to have the Gift of the Holy Ghost in my life.

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

The best way to share the gospel is to be a good example. I am a school teacher at a public high school and I can't share religion with my students, but many of them come to me later and tell me that my example led them to investigate the church.

I hope I will always be an example of the joy the gospel brings to me.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I think that people wonder why we go on missions to places where many of the people are already Christian. I want to serve a mission with my husband when we retire. We want to share the joyous news that Jesus Christ has restored his Church and that his power and authority are here on the earth again. We want people to know that they can be with their families eternally. We also want people to have the Holy Ghost to guide them and protect them.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures daily with my family. Right now we are reading the Old Testament. We also pray together morning and evening. I also enjoy reading scriptures alone in the evenings. I love to attend Church and I attend Church with my husband every week. I teach a lesson in the Relief Society portion of Church once a month. Relief Society is an organization for the women which is based on compassionate service.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

When I was 37, my husband was killed in an accident on the interstate. I was left alone with 6 children, but I was not left without hope. I knew that because our marriage had been sealed in the temple, my husband and I would be together in the next life. Our children also know that they will be with their father again someday. This knowledge has helped us in our lives so much. It has helped us find joy, even though we missed him so much. Now, two of my children are on missions sharing the good news that families can be together forever!

When married by earthly power and the authority of man, our vows are "Until death do you part."

We believe that families can be together forever as part of our Heavenly Father's Great Plan of Happiness. His Work and His Glory is to bring to pass the exaltation and eternal life of man. He wants us to be even as He is and to return home to live with Him again.

Through the ordinances of his Holy Temples, God's son's and daughter's are able to make covenants. Through the power of His Holy Priesthood, be sealed together for all of time and eternity as Husband and Wife, parents and children.

Families were designed and instituted by God with the intent that they be forever. The love we feel in this life does not need to be cut off when we die. Those who have already died are not lost us forever. God has mercifully made a way by which all who would accept these saving ordinances can do so, living or dead.

We perform these ordinances for those who have in the past died so that they may have the opportunity of accepting them on the other side if they so choose to do so.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We worship only God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God chosen to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness back on the Earth. We deeply respect the man and all that he did for man kind as through him the Church of Jesus Christ and the authority which is called the Priesthood was restored to the Earth. The anciant people of Israel deeply revered and respected Moses and all that he did for them, but did not worship him. Joseph was a true Prophet of God and we see him as such, and we only worship the Father and the Son. Joseph was a servant of God and taught about how we should only worship God and Jesus Christ. The purpose of a Prophet is to point us to Christ and help us to know his will, and in these times as terrible as they are, we need the guidance of Prophets to help keep us on the path that God has put before us.
