Carleen: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Carleen

I am a mother, a wife, and an educator. I know 3 languages. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a city girl. The fast-paced life is all around me. I have struggled a long time raising my son as a single mother. At the same time, I have put myself through college. I have recently been married.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 10 years old. My family stayed with the church for 2 years then stopped for whatever reason. However I continued because of the support of a friend my age. In a small ward we were the only 2 girls for quite some time. When we both reached adulthood, my friend moved on to college and I stayed put. I fell away from the church for several years only attending occasionally. The worldly views were misdirecting me.

I had a son not long after high school. When he was in his preteen years, I truly started to feel that something was missing in both of our lives. After speaking with my bishop, he asked me to do a number of things. One was to pray and ask Heavenly Father if He loved me. Then to wait as long as it would take to get my answer. When I did pray, it did not take long to get my answer. It was powerful and certain. Since that time I have not fallen away from my Father in Heaven enough the world around me tries to bring me down. I know that Heavenly Father loves you and if you pray and ask Him, He WILL answer you. I know this to be true and I say this in Jesus name. Amen

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Making the right choice can be very difficult at times. However its a streamline effect, once you do it then it gets easier every time. A singer's voice doesn't get strong if she/he doesn't practice. We become stronger every time we practice, whether it be a talent/skill or just making the right decision.

How I live my faith

In the past I have served as a teacher/president over the adult women. Currently I am serving in a new branch as a youth leader/president. I teach/mentor young girls ages 12 - 18. This calling is not a one-time-a- week-teach-then-go-home activity. Dealing with the youth is much more then that. We stay in contact during the week, meet on Sundays for lessons but have fun during a scheduled weekly activity. Occasionally we have sleep-overs at my home. This calling has given me the opportunity to show these young women that Our Father in Heaven loves them. Though we are a small branch this class has grown. New girls are showing up continually.
