About Me

I am a wife, mother, kindergarten teacher on-hiatus while I raise my children, sister, daughter, friend, and child of God.

I love going for walks with my family, catching up with friends, reading a good book, and going to the beach.

I have a great life, and a wonderful family!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a perfectionist, which doesn't quite mesh well with being a mommy. I try to make it work as best as I can. My house is not always clean. My cooking is not always first-rate. I make mistakes along the way. But I keep trying to improve. Some things help me feel happy and loved no matter what:

My husband-- he loves me unconditionally. My kids-- they are so quick to forgive and dish out hugs and kisses and say "I love you mommy!" My family-- they still lend a listening ear and some advice whenever I call.

But most of all, I always know that my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, are with me.

I was raised as a Mormon, yet I think my conversion has been ongoing throughout my life. There came a time when I had to decide for myself if what I was taught about the Gospel really was true. After praying, studying the scriptures, and pondering on my desire to know, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true.

Whenever I have had a rough time or faced a challenge, I have always found hope and peace in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I say my prayers and read the scriptures, my beliefs are confirmed and I can feel my Savior's love and personal understanding of what I might be experiencing.

I once heard an expression, "No one can live your experience." In my hardest struggles, I am grateful to know that I am not alone. I know that God knows me personally My Savior, Jesus Christ, has sacrificed so much for me and I know they are there to help me through whatever I face in life.

Personal Stories

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

Prayer for peace, service for family members, and having an "attitude of gratitude" for the many things I have been blessed with.

How I live my faith

I help teach a class about "Gospel Essentials" during our Sunday meetings. I aide the missionary effort in our local ward.

As a mother, I raise my children to know that I believe in Christ. I try to set an example for others as I try my best to follow the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

The family is a divine structure that was set forth by God. The family unit is where we experience the most joy in life, and where we learn to love and trust. We believe that we can be with our families forever.

After I joined the Mormon Church I learned about the importance of families. Not long after that I realized that if I was going to follow this teaching I needed to tell my father that I loved him. That was very difficult for me since my dad and I argued so much. I spent the better part of 2 weeks trying to determine how I could do this. When the time came I found that the words came more easily than I had thought. From that point to the time he died, about 22 years later, he and I had an entirely different relationship. We were now friends. And I found how much I regretted all our arguments while growing up. And now I find that I miss him and more fully understand how important our families are.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No, Mormons or members of The Church of Jesus Christ do not practice polygamy. The church has nothing whatsoever to do with the practice of polygamy. People who practice polygamy are not Mormons or members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. If any members of the church are found practicing plural marriage, they are excommunicated, which is the most serious penalty the Church can impose. Not only are those involved in direct violation of the civil law, they are in violation of the law of this Church.
