Hi, I'm Aaron!
I'm the hot sauce on your soft taco. And heck yes, I'm a Mormon!
About Me
I'm a skinny guy with BIG plans! :D Music is my passion. Guitar is my weapon of choice, but my arsenal includes drums, bass, my voice, and I'm working on piano! My second passion is storytelling. I wrote my first novel in high school, so I basically daydream way too much. At the moment, I'm serving a full-time mission in the Massachusetts Boston Mission, and I'm totally in love with New England. I'm a guy that loves people, loves life, but I believe that life just isn't all it can be without Jesus Christ. He has a plan for us--a plan of happiness--and all He asks of us is to follow the outline and reap the benefits.
Why I am a Mormon
Because I've found out for myself that it's true. How? I asked God and got that strong feeling in my heart that it is indeed true. And not only that, I've felt the benefits that come through living the teachings of Jesus Christ. Yeah, sometimes it's hard, but often the biggest rewards are found through your biggest challenges.
Personal Stories
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
It's brought me closer to God by clarifying what the Bible is a little unclear on. The Bible has been interpreted so many ways by so many different churches, so it can be really confusing to tell which doctrine is right. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are like dots on a graph. A straight line can intersect a single dot a bazillion times--just like how the Bible has been interpreted in so many different ways. But when we put another dot on the graph, only one straight line can intersect them both. Clarity. That's important because God is a God of truth and clarity, not chaos and confusion.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Because Christ's church is a missionary church. God has told us that it's our responsibility to spread His word because we are all God's children. My mission has been the best thing to ever happen in my life.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
We know that families can be sealed together throughout eternity, so you've got a whole line of ancestors that you need to get to know! We also gather the information on our ancestors so we can perform saving ordinances (such as baptism) for them if they didn't receive it while they were still living on earth.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
That's largely up to you. Heavenly Father has given all of us talents and abilities, and they can be used for our benefit and the benefit of others. Being a musician, I try to write music that uplifts and makes people happy. That's one way that I try to serve others through the talents that Heavenly Father has given me. You have your own talents. There's nothing more noble you can do than to use your God-given talents to bless others.
What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?
Happiness. Purpose. Guidance. Knowing that there is always someone on my side, who loves me, no matter what. I don't know what more I could ask for.
Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?
Well, of course, now I do it through missionary work because I've been set apart to do this full-time. But I've tried to be a good missionary through, first of all, being a good example to those around me. And it never hurts to simply invite friends to a church activity or youth activity. I've invited my friends to learn more about the gospel because it's something that's given substance to my life. I imagine life would be extremely bleak and pointless if I didn't have the gospel. It's made me happy, and it makes me really happy when friends tell me that they want to learn more, because I know it'll make them happy as well.
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that he saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. You can find out, too. All you need to do is ask God if it's true. The Holy Ghost will let you know.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?
The Savior's example of unconditional love toward everyone is something I strive for. I'm still working on it, trust me, but I've found that I get great satisfaction from making someone smile through a simple handshake or a "hello."
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
The Holy Ghost speaks to my heart in a way that's incredibly subtle, but it sticks. I've prayed to understand the truths of things, and I feel that I've gotten answers from the Holy Ghost as He speaks to my spirit quietly. He's the source of all truth, and I know that without a doubt, I can pray to God and He'll send me an answer through the quiet promptings of the Holy Ghost. That's how I came to know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith really was a prophet.
How I live my faith
Day by day. Last time I checked, I'm still a hopeless pile of imperfections. But I've learned that perfection is a never-ending process, not a checklist. Christ said in John chapter 14, verse 15, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." I try to live by that. I slip up occasionally, but that's why I'm so grateful to Jesus Christ for making repentance available.
