Hi, I'm Dallin
I'm a newly married college student. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a recently married college student studying Electrical Engineering and planning on going into Patent Law. I enjoy all sorts of things, but especially playing/watching football and basketball and also playing the piano.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into a family that was already members of the church. During my childhood and teen years a lot of the time I found myself just going through the motions and not really thinking anything about the church or why I was doing the things I was. Eventually I got to the point where I felt like I needed to make a decision and find out for myself if I was really doing what I wanted to or just doing something because it was "tradition."
I said a prayer one night after reading some of the Book of Mormon asking for God to show if the church was really true and if I was doing the right thing. That night I didn't receive an answer, nor have I had one of those single experiences that I can point to that says "this is it." But that doesn't mean I haven't received my answer. Through small and simple things, maybe a testimony I heard in church or a small scripture I happened to read in a time of need, my testimony has grown and I have found for myself that this church really is true. And that's why I'm a Mormon.
Personal Stories
What is hope and what do you hope for?
In the world today hope kind of seems like a thing of the past. Looking at all of the negative things in the world can very quickly rid someone of their hope. Hope is patiently waiting for the Lord to keep His promises, and that may be one of the more difficult things in life. But thankfully we can put our complete trust in the Lord that He will always, without fail, follow through with the promises. What are some of those promises? That the righteous will be protected and blessed and that eventually the wickedness in this world will no longer be present. I hope for and look forward to that marvelous day when the Lord comes again to reign on this earth.
How I live my faith
I have recently been called to help out the other husbands in my ward in both their spiritual and temporary needs. It's been such a great but humbling experience. There are so many great guys in my ward and I feel pretty insignificant, but I can feel the Lord watching over me and guiding my thoughts and actions every day.
Aside from serving in my church calling I also just try my hardest to do the simple things that help remind me of God, for example scripture study or prayer with my wife or on my own.
