Gibran: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Gibran

I grew up in Honduras. I love missionary work. I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I am a son, a brother, a father, and a husband. I am a Software Engineer, a Web Developer, a Senior Programmer Analyst, a Senior Applications Developer, a Software Architect, and an Entrepreneur. I love to watch the Premier League, American Idol, the Food Network, and Movies like Harry Potter, Narnia, Troy Legacy, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of this wonderful Church in March 1996 in Queens, NYC because I had a burning desire to follow Jesus Christ and because I became humble enough to exercise faith in the restore gospel of Jesus Christ by repenting, getting baptize, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. I am thankful for missionary work and for the empowerment and guidance I receive from the scriptures, the local and the general authorities.

Personal Stories

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

It is just like anything else in this life. Practice and repetition help us improve and master all things.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?

Forgive others as I am forgiven of my sins. Repentance is crucial to become clean and worthy to dwell in God's presence but forgiveness is important too. Repentance and forgiveness go hand in hand, that is, because we are not at Christ level, we are bound to make mistakes, that is, to sin; however, we should strive not to sin. And we are bound to be treated poorly by others or to treat others poorly ourselves whoever that may be, so these things are bound to happen, I mean it will happen because we have not master nor overcome the natural men within us. Therefore, we must make changes in our lives, that is, repent and forgive others when treated poorly. We are suppose to be more like Jesus Christ. It is easy to say all these things and they sound nice but making it a reality is the true challenge we all have to face someday, but all things are possible with God. I learned these things from the following scripture in The Book of Mormon - Mosiah 2622-31 I love it, these few verses are full of wisdom, knowledge, mercy, love, justice, etc.

Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?

I strive to find opportunities to share the restore gospel with others. I plant seeds in people's hearts and minds. Must of the time I don't see the end results but I know it will make a huge difference someday.

Because I know how important it is to the Godhead for the gospel to be taught to all creatures, faith moves me to do missionary work whenever possible. Teach when I find people and find when I am teaching.

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

Mormon's do family history or genealogy work because it is God's will and because it is an honor for us to be able to build our family tree. Plus you learn a lot about your ancestors your roots. You learn a lot about Adam and Eve's family on this planet earth.

How I live my faith

I strive to magnify the assignments and callings given to me, specially home teaching. I strive to always focus on Christ and doing the things he would do (this can be a challenge sometimes, but is worth it).
