Gary T.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Gary T.

I'm an author, historian, tubby triathlete...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’ve been blessed to have written and edited several books, and ghost written for people like Steven R. Covey, Jane Clayson, and Senator’s Bob Dole and Orrin Hatch. I’ve also been blessed with the opportunity to travel the globe where I’ve met and interviewed world political leaders, dissidents and heads of state. I’ve been blessed to have traveled to nearly 50 countries, where I’ve experienced the wonderful diversity of culture, religion and political thought.

However, the most exciting and important blessing of my life is being a father of four children, husband to my wife for nearly three decades, and witness that through God’s grace and my faithfulness, I will be able to enjoy the eternities with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I’ve seen many of the world’s religions in practice, and believe most all religions are good, and also have truth and divinity imbued in each of them. However, I am a Mormon because I believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only church that holds the authority to act in God’s name here on earth. And because He is a God of order and not confusion, His church must be patterned after the primitive church where prophets like Moses, Noah and Abraham were called to lead and guide His children.

God has always used prophets to lead His church, so why would He allow his children of the latter-days to go without such a necessary blessing? Does he love the ancient people more than the people of today? If God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, it just makes sense to me that He would give us the divine guidance of an authorized prophet. One of the reasons why I am a Mormon is because I believe in the importance of prophets and divine personal revelation, and have been blessed immensely as a result.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday School class of 13 and 14 year-olds. We have a lot of fun together learning the gospel from each other. I also lead my congregation’s choir, where we enjoy singing and making heavenly noises.
