Liz.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Liz.

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm a middle school science teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid mountain biker along with my husband. We got married in June 2009 and currently live in New Mexico. I enjoy running too and like to run in 5k's and half marathons.

Why I am a Mormon

My whole family and I grew up in the Catholic Church. My mom called a 1 800 number to request a Book of Mormon and the missionaries showed up at my doorstep and taught us. I immediately fell in love with the Church and have not stopped going since.

Even though I was ten years old when I joined, I still knew that I wanted to be a member of the Church. To this day, it is a part of me daily and I have grown so much. I pray every day to thank Heavenly Father for letting those missionaries come to our house. I feel privileged that I was allowed to find out about the Church when so many people have not had the chance yet. I am glad to be part of the Gospel and to have a knowledge of why I am here.
I love the temple! I am so glad that I can have an eternal family!

Personal Stories

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

The things that have helped me the most is making sure to do as much as possible together as a family. Start the day with a prayer and end the day praying together. Sit down and read the scriptures together and talk about your beliefs. Make your home a safe place to be.

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

I constantly think about the sacrifice Christ made for all of us. I try really hard to thank Him every day for what He did. When I think about Him, I feel a peace in my life that carries on with my day. I would go through this life thinking I had no reason to be here without knowing the sacrifice He made for us. He is the only one that could save us and He did!

How I live my faith

Being a member is a daily thing, not just a once a week thing. As a school teacher, I try to just be a good example to others. I don't drink, smoke, use drugs, or any illegal substance. I share that often with my kids at school.

I also teach Sunday school to teenagers and try to help them get the perspective I had when I was their age, especially since I was new to the Church when I was a teenager. This year we are learning about the New Testament, which is so exciting because it is all about the life of Christ!

I visit a few girls at my Church once a month, just to check up on them and see how they are doing. It has helped me to make new friends and have a support system.
