I've been a Mormon for over twenty years.

About Me

I am a father and husband. I am a family physician. We lost our oldest daughter to a terminal illness when she was 16 years old. We have a son in the Army serving in Afghanistan. I have another son starting college, one in high school and twin girls that keep me young.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I discovered that the Heavens were not closed, nor was revelation reserved only for a select few with formal religious training. I now know that God wants all his children to know him. He desires that we all come to Him through Jesus Christ. I know that His hand is now and always been extended to man if we would only soften our hearts and seek after him. I feel Him and the Savior in my life everday.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

Attending Chruch keeps me grounded especially when life gets very busy. I am reminded of the promises I have made with God to keep his commandments. I always learn new things and new perspectives about the Savior's life and mission.

How I live my faith

By doing whatever the Lord asks of me. I do my best to live as Christ would have me live in all phases of my life. I am responsible for several congregations in an area of our town. I do my best to strengthen members faith in the Savior and their committment to obey his commandments.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. We are encourgaed to become informed on the many politcal issues of our time and vote for candidates who most closely represent our values. The Church has never endorsed a specific polital party or view.

No. The church advocates principles and doctrine but does not endorse a certain political party or candidate. If you look in the United States Congress, you'll see members of the Mormon church sitting on both sides of the aisle from the current Senate Majority Leader to a 2008 presidential candidate.

However, the church is involved in the public arena when political initiatives intersect with principles of Christ's gospel. When this happens, the church will release a statement advocating certain principles and encouraging members to uphold these principles. This type of action often leads to confusion. Church support for an initiative for religious reasons should not be taken to imply support for a particular political party. These are two distinctly separate activities.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Simply by trying to. If you have a desire to increase your faith in Jesus Christ, try to do it. Start by praying. Read his words in the Bible. Try to put them into practice. For example, he told us to "love one another." Try and follow that teaching. Be nice to others, help people who might have less than you, smile... As you do so, you will notice a change come over you. You might feel more peace in your life, a calm enter your mind, or a warm feeling that seems to say you're doing the right thing. These things help you realize your faith is growing. Faith is an action word. If you put action behind your belief, I have found that it will grow.
