Ed: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Ed

I was born in China and came to USA as a young boy. I'm proud to be an American & enjoy freedoms here. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married with four grown children and five young grandchildren. I love sports, both as a participant and as a spectator. I have a masters degree in mathematics and currently work as a sr. software engineer. My main hobby is doing Family History. I do look forward to retiring some day and perhaps get back to doing some art work like water color paintings and charcoal drawings.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member because I received a personal witness of the truthfulness of the Gospel. I received an affirmative answer to my prayers concerning whether I should join. After being a member for over 34 years, I have not regretted my decision. I've seen blessings poured out upon me and my family through our participation in this church.

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

There is a passage in the Book of Mormon that states "there shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord". I know this to be true because it happened to me. I was four years old when my paternal grandfather brought me to the border that separated Communist China and Hong Kong. He told the guard a far fetched story that I was needed to watch my grandmother in Hong Kong while he worked. Who would believe that a mere 4 year old would be able to care for an ailing grandmother? It was the Hand of the Lord that softened the heart of the border guard to let me leave Communist China without proper exit papers. His Hand was again involved in other circumstances that eventually led to my immigration to USA. The fulfillment of that passage in me is a testament to me that God loves us. He knows the circumstances of each of His children. He cared about me and saw to it that I would be able to come to this blessed land and enjoyed all the opportunities that are here.

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

Families are very important to Mormons, which is in harmony with Chinese culture. After graduating from college, I prayed fervently throughout that summer that I would meet the love of my life at graduate school. During the first week at graduate school, I attended church and my eyes fell upon this girl at Sunday School class. I knew she was the one and we were married shortly after I finished graduate school.

How I live my faith

Families can be forever. Since I am the first one in my family to join the church, there is much work that needs to be done to have sacred temple ordinances done on behalf of my kindred dead. To that end, my wife and I attend a local temple each week doing temple work for them.
